I doubt you'll want to use them for the cat food. First, I don't think the smell will come out very well. But I also read that there's a difference between plastics intended for use with food and other items. They say the vitamins from the food will be absorbed into the plastic from the cat food. Of course, I store dog food in a cat litter bucket, but by the time I read that, I had been using the same bucket for several years, so I figured the plastic probably stole it's fill of nutrients well before I ever learned that. Also, with 2 large dogs, that bucket's gone in about 10 days. Not so with the cat food. Good luck with the picky cat. I have 2. Feeding them in a way that makes them happy (and not yelling at me) is an ever-changing challenge. If it makes you feel any better, you could possibly use the cat food he won't eat as a protein fertilizer for your lawn...

Roc, I'm in a small country town and the old sheets sell at thrift stores mainly to the underprivlaged...most people around here would walk past the sheets thinking..I don't want someone else's stinky bedding LOL. Ebay often has a ton of old sheets, but they might be pricey. Personally I don't mind paying for good quality American made sheets even if I have to subject them to torture to get them clean. I recently felt a set of sheets at Bon Ton and looked at the edging..shoot they wanted 140 $ and that was on sale, I wouldn't have paid 10 $ the edging looked like something I would do nowadays with my crooked fingers, LOL and they had a underlying roughness...I pay 30 $ for the twin size at Target without a sale and their much better made than Bon Tons over priced, rough bedding. Roc, I love Target but I'm glad its an hour drive from me or I'd be there often when I can't afford to. I was there yesterday and finially got the Mrs Meyers Lemon Verbena FS..haven't used it yet so no review yet lol. I do plan to order more Vaska lavender laundry detergent tabs as I did end up enjoying them on towels.

I don't mind most scents in products, but with clothes nothing beats the smell of clothes dried outside on a clothesline. I guess I remember my mother hanging sheets and other items outside. And they didn't smell like fresh linen or fresh cotton artificial scents. Persil is very expensive around here at the grocery store. I tend to get what is on sale. If Tide is on sale I snatch it up. It cleans most consistently especially whites. I still wear white undershirts under dress shirts and don't like them getting dingy.

Yes you can use the STPP with whatever laundry supply you want...have you used it before? First you have to find out how much is needed with your water chemistry and amount of water..easy to do..start a full load of laundry. .don't add any detergent or boosters, but add 3T STPP let it agitate to mix it up than feel the water it should feel slippery if its not add more remembering how much you added, agitate and feel again. Once the water feel slippery that's the amount you need ..it means the STPP conditioned the water and is ready to do its job. .than add detergent but reduce the amount start off with 1/2 the amount of detergent you normally use and see how that works, you can always add more detergent if needed. The STPP does much more than soften water it will sequester hard water minerals and hold them in suspension preventing them from being deposited onto clothing. ..does the same with soils keeps them from redepositing onto clothing and aids in rinsing by making sure detergent residue is removed.
