Comments (12)In addition to Glucosamine, or Adequan injection from the Vet, you can do the EPSOM SALT hot water soaks 2X a day for 15 min. That will help arthritis naturally. It won't hurt anything. This is what I did with my 13 yo, small dog, who has terrible arthtritis in her hind leg (knee and ankle) from an old injury: I took a small towel and immersed it in a bowl of very warmth water with Epsom salt. Wrapped her hind leg in it. I put a plastic bag around it, and wrapped all that in a large towel. Sat with her for 15 min watching TV. In 2 days she was walking normally. You just have to be careful so the water isn't burning them. It has to be as warm as they can stand it. Mix the Epsom salt well in the water. Dip the towel and apply. You can use it on any part of the body i.e. back, legs, neck... Just apply it to the affected area. It makes their old bones/joints feel good. It's also good for any swelling after an injury. Just ice for the first 48 hours. Use heat/soaking after 48hours. Comments (24)I am always incredibly polite and try being gentle the first time, but I am also desertsteph all the way! When anything goes wrong needing customer service, or we want to return something, there is never a question of who will handle it in our house. I am always reasonable, but always get my way. I am not concerned about being liked or thought of as a b*tch. If asking for what is fair makes me a b*th, then I am one with no shame. I find that many companies will test to see if they can get away with doing less and/or saying something can't be done. That is only the start of the conversation to me. I go up the chain until I am speaking to someone who will do something. If I ever we to get a tattoo (never in reality), it would be "that is unacceptable" because that is my catch phrase in so many situations. I have also learned to say that and just pause. Let them speak next. You also need to know what you actually want done before calling sometimes. Often, the company will offer to do more than I was expecting and the pause is what gives them the chance to do so. If not, then I state clearly what would be acceptable and where I draw the line. They sense someone who is firm and means business. It is almost a game at times. There have been quite a few times that dh is nearby almost in full giggle and when I hang up we are both hysterically laughing. I never get loud, curse or call names. I am more polite the more annoyed I get. It can be chilling. I think you are entitled to functioning plumbing and anything that is to be centered is to be centered. You are being charged for proper installation, not "almost" well done. I make it clear that anyone who does right by me gets references and referrals (and really do), but that anyone who does substandard work will be known for that among people I know.I usually leave the second part unsaid, but if someone is giving me grief, that becomes quite evident. Comments (31)My gate came and works well. So I can shut the living room, dining room, and den off from the cats. If I move the gate elsewhere I can also cut off the whole upstairs, confining them to kitchen and basement. It is not beautiful but it is easy to take up and down and I can live with it. Today I came home and immediately inspected the living room for feces as is my habit, only later realizing they couldn't get in the living room. I felt a notable release of tension--at least I have reclaimed my lovely living and entertaining spaces and no longer fear stepping in poop or having it arrive on the carpet 5 minutes before guests are expected. I think I'm drawing the conclusion that a cat may decide to eliminate outside the box for no good reason that a person can possibly understand, and that some such behaviors simply cannot be changed. Then one moves to accommodation (I guess) with the goal of minimizing headache and damage. I'll see how it continues to go but am thinking of putting doggy pee pads all around the litter boxes so at least the feces are not on the floor and are easy to clean up. miss-sistersue, I'll bet the problem cat would love a litter box that contained soft rug material--preferably in an all-wool, high quality oriental pattern like the one she so loves in the living room :) One thing I didn't say before is that about a year ago my other cat, the diabetic one, began to stick his sizable butt outside the litter box and urinated half in the box and half out. So I was cleaning pee up quite a bit. I experimented with many boxes and finally found a brand that stops the problem. I also have the litter boxes sitting on big plastic washing machine pans; they catch any overflow and litter kicking. I got these ideas from helpful people on this forum. Comments (21)Well after an overnight in the hospital I am a bit confused but certainly more comfortable. Also I am sorry to hijack a cooking forum with my health drama. I initially just wanted recommendations for post stomach bug eating - thinking that was where I was at. In that vein I just had cup of tea and a half English muffin with a tidge of butter. On my way home I bought lemon ices, watermelon, a cucumber and the aforementioned English muffins. Somehow the hospital thought a good breakfast for someone who hasn’t kept down food for a week was eggs, sausages, bran muffin, orange juice, milk and a tiny thing of watermelon. I ate the watermelon and a piece of dry toast. Evidently I have a cyst on my pancreas (probably from a long ago bout with pancreatitis) which may or may not have caused my current issues.
