Help point me towards a counter-depth refrigerator
Comments (33)It's funny, a2gemini. I originally was going to buy an Electrolux fridge until I started reading reviews - I remember a miz lizzy in particular. This was a while ago but you get this vision in your head that has water leaking on the soon to be installed hardwood, or a fridge full of food going bad a week after the warranty runs out and you say no way. Then you start to pick other contenders and low and behold they get nasty reviews too. Lol, I think I picked the Bosch partly because I can't find ANY reviews! I do know this. Anything will be better (storage wise, and big/bulky wise than what I have now- which btw is a rebadged electrolux/Frigidaire SxS. One of the things I hate about this one (other than what's mentioned above) are the wire racks in the freezer that keep falling off the rails. And guess what? The bosch has wire baskets too. I haven't seen an elux in a long time but I do remember the drawers in the fridge section were very smooth and easy to pull out. What's the freezer like? I did like the fridge portion of the bosch as well. Oh, and thanks for your post hvtech. It reminded me to call the store and ask who services the appliances and about extended warranties....See Morecounter depth refrigerator - about 30 in wide?
Comments (1)I purchased a Fisher Paykel about 5 months ago and really love it so far. Mine is slightly bigger than the one your looking at. I got the 175WCLUX1. A little taller at 69 inches and 32 5/8 inches wide . It is extremely quiet. No problems what so ever and hoping it stays like that....See MoreTrue Counter Depth Refrigerator
Comments (15)With a free standing fridge, depending on the clearance needed for the doors to open, you will for sure have the thickness of the door and perhaps some of the sides (which I find ugly but people do it) showing unless you get a fridge with a 0 clearance door. Liebherr, again. You might see about Fisher & Paykel. Otherwise, you go to a built in fridge which has the thickness of the door show to various degrees. There are more options for that including SZ, Miele, Thermador, Bosch GE and others. Unsure where Jenn Air and Kitchen Aid fall. I also would check into Kenmore. Basically, you need to decide what you want and match that to the budget. The thing to do is to start reading specification sheets for the various fridges and look at what each requires in terms of installation....See MoreRefrigerator Dilemma....Counter Depth or Standard at End of Run???
Comments (40)I think it looks great as is. Your fridge is big and beautiful. As long as it is not blocking doors or windows. But if it really bothers you because of the look and isn't blocking anything: If the side is magnetic, add a magnetic shelf or two to it and it will look great. Or put a side rack less deep to make the difference appear tapered. We had to remove our top cabinet to be able to fit the height of our new fridge, that only required unscrewing the cabinet simply held on by screws, was easy. But all this talk about cutting into drywall and all that hassle (unless you are skilled in that sort of thing) otherwise it might be more work and hassle than it's worth unless the fridge is blocking something. We got these magnetic shelves and they look great and very functional too--> https://tinyurl.com/rab3rqm Personally I like big and beautiful fridges like yours and we only have about 33 inches width so no room for it, otherwise I'd have one like yours even IF it stuck out....See Morepractigal
