Will this "true counter depth" Liebherr fridge fit?
Comments (7)DamaskDi -- I owned a 30" Liebherr refrigerator with bottom freezer that was enclosed in a partition against a wall. The space had less clearance on one side than your space. The fridge has 0 clearance doors and opened against the wall. However, to be absolutely sure you want to check the specification sheet for the refrigerator. That will give you accurate information -- the information you need, not inaccurate speculation. I've linked the Design Guide below. Look for the model number. The fridge depth is 24-1/4. For semi-built in it will need some clearance at the top for ventilation -- they will tell you how much to leave but as I recall it is a minimum of 2 or 3 inches. If you have any doubts, call the company and ask. In any event I would call and ask them about installing a refrigerator next to ovens (usually not recommended but often seen) and be sure it is done properly. Check the location needed for the plug and the ice maker as well. There is a note about door clearance which will be needed to open the crispers inside. The doors have a 145 degree swing. Do yourself a favor and use the spec sheet -- there are other design guides as well. I would always call the company to verify those and be sure nothing has changed. Comments (3)We just installed our kitchen aid counter depth frige. It does not have counters next to it but rather pantry style cabinetry (which are standard depth). It looks like it sticks out about an inch or slightly less than I want it too (not the doors or the handles but the body of the frige). Once the doors of the cabinets are installed it shouldn't be as noticeable. My cabinet guy did recomend to notch out some of the sheetrock in the back of the frige where the plug is (because the stiff cords are preventing the fridge from going all the way back) and it should fit even better. The kitchen aid frige we have is model KFCS22EVMSO....See MoreQuestion about building in countertop depth refrigerator
Comments (13)Joe, that looks great. The other thing they did that I hate, is that they ordered a cabinet for above that is too short - there is a huge gap between the bottom and the top of my refrigerator. They will fill it with trim, but I've lost 3" of usable cabinet above the refrig, and now cannot put awkward size appliances up there. I am going to insist that they replace this...at their cost. They DID measure the refrigerator and saw all my pictures. I think (heck, I KNOW), that I"m much pickier than clients they usually have. My city is sort of a laid-back/lethargic/accepting kind of place. I constantly hear friends say that something that was done by remodeler or designer was not really what they wanted, but their reaction is always "...oh well" and they always tell the person who has done it that the just love it...it would be "rude" to complain. Did I mention that this is a somewhat southern city? My grandmother may have been a Lee but I am NOT a Southern woman who thinks it rude to complain if something is not done right....See MoreWarning about GE Cafe Refrigerator deceptive advertising
Comments (39)Ok, so all of you who are on this thread who actually OWN a GE Cafe Fridge---how are you liking it (other than the fit!) Do you have the ice and water outside? Does the icemaker still work, as I know that is a known issue with just about all french door fridges when the ice is made up in the fridge area, not down in the freezer. We are looking at a full-size (not counter depth) GE Cafe Fridge. We do want the water and ice in the door for convenience. Are compressors still working? Have they frozen up? I worry about them dumping water on my new hardwood floors, since I have never had hardwoods in a kitchen before! It seems not many fridges have great reviews if you don't want to spend your life savings on one so trying to find the best of the bunch. Nothing I hate worse than a fridge that doesn't run and trying to get all your food in coolers until you can get it fixed or replaced! Advice and reviews on these would be appreciated! Thanks!...See Moreanne_p
