Can someone please help me ID my new succulents?
I recently picked up a few new succulents at a garage sale a few days ago. Both these succulents came with an ID but I'm not sure if they are correct.
The first succulent I got was a Hen & Chicks plant. Since I'm new to succulents I'm not sure if there are different types. This Hen & Chicks has a reddish color around the leaves and they are spiky.
I also bought another succulent from a garage sale. This one claimed to be a Zygo Cactus but after looking that up I'm not all to sure what it is. As of now it is a long stick with two leaves on the top. (There used to be a few more leaves on the top but they fell off due to the storm the other night).
I also have one more cactus I bought a year ago. It is a long stick with what looks like branches coming out. There used to be more branches on him too but my cat likes to bite them off. These branches also progressively get bigger/longer once they get closer to the bottom.
If you happen to know that these succulents are and/or what care is involved with them I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!!

7 years agoThanks for the information. It's greatly appreciated! :) Yes, I have heard of that before. Luckily he just likes to bite the ends off and then spits them out. Here is another picture of the Zygo.

Comments (6)Sadly, just because a bagged soil is called 'cactus soil' that doesn't necessarily mean it's any good for cacti and succulents as we've said many times before, it's just sales blurb. They will die in that mix whatever their size, large or small, the result will be the same. Can't tell what the planter/s look like size wise in relation to the plants or whether it's one big planter, but whichever, there's way too much unused 'peaty' type compost. It will cause one of two things to happen...if you water thoroughly which they will need (but they also need to drain properly) it will stay wet and they'll rot. Failing that, the soil may become hydrophobic, you will think you are watering it but it will stay dry at the roots, as spray bottles don't water efficiently. Comments (7)Lolllll, at this time of year, I always seem to burn up my plants, so I like to keep most of them in bright shade. I'm also negligent when it comes to watering, so bright green with a bit of blush is what I get wit has this plant. I'm happy with that ☺ Yes, I do keep my plants under lights in the winter time. This year I'm setting up a bank of LED's. Nothing fancy mind you, I tend to be rather lazy & repotting, occasional watering & inorganic mix is the extent of my care. I haven't been at this very long, my oldest plant is probably 6 or 7 years old. My aim is simply to keep these lovely textured plants as long as possible.
