I just got an email from Barn Fabric. They have several older fabrics, but if you look they have some great bargains.

I saw this, which will be $4.99 a yard on their sale for $22.95 a yard elsewhere. Kravet Kashmira in Indigo.

And this embroidered fabric is $4.99 on sale and 'retails' for $110.98 and is selling for $71.98 a yard HERE.

Thanks for posting. I need to do the seats of some antique Arts & Crafts Era dining room chairs. I have no idea what I'll use, so I'll just browse around :)

I tried to post a link to the Dutch Gardens page on Watchdog, but got an error that said this site would not allow links to Dave's Garden. Weird. I had the same problem. Got this scary message that suggested I was spamming Gardenweb or soliciting business. Considering how often in the past people here HAVE referenced DaveÂs garden, I think lots of us will be getting that message. I wonder if there is anyway to tell iVillage what DG really is? Since they have not answered my emails before (about anything) I rather doubt it. I was disappointed to find today that BloomingBulb.com did not whack everything down to 60% off todayÂ.I *really* don't need anything else, but with this warm November weather, I feel like there is plenty of time left to plant bulbs!!!! Me too. I have been watching since you mentioned the site hoping it will drop more. Though the weather has turned colder here so I may be out of time. Since you have ordered from them before, is there generally a date by which they discount further? Thank goodness I don't have a car to sneak over to HomeDepot and the rest to spy what's on the clearance tables there! IÂve already been to mine...twice! There was nothing special. Plus it was only 25% offÂnot much at all. Menards put everything on deep clearance over a month ago, and it sold out fast. ThatÂs MY kind of discount.

OK, here goes, advice appreciated: My sheets arrived today (I ordered them on the 16th, took 10 days). I thought one of the pillow cases and the fitted sheet seemed off color compared to the other 3 cases and the flat sheet. But I thought maybe its just me and into the wash they went, on warm with 2 Tbs Vaska detergent). Once they dried it was very obviously different. The fitted sheet is a dark slate gray and the others are a cocoa-y brown. They are also HORRIBLY wrinkled, I mean REALLY, REALLY wrinkled. I keep reading here about WE's wonderful customer service. Is this something I should pursue? I really don't want to have to spend $$ to ship back or go thru the bother. Suggestions? TIA, Cathi

I order online a lot, in fact, most of my fabric buying is online. I have had very good service and have been pleased with my purchases. The only one I've had problems with is Hancocks-Paducah.com, seems there is an error in every order, but, they always correct the errors, no questions asked, and, if they send the incorrect item, they send the correct item, and let me keep the wrong item. For instance, a year or so ago I ordered a couple of rulers, when the order came, I received a 6 1/2 X 6 1/2 ruler that I didn't order, they not only sent the correct ruler, but insisted that I keep the one sent in error. I've also had problems with them sending the wrong fabric, and again, they always send the correct one and have me keep the wrong one. I've had very good service and correct and timely orders from ConnectingThreads.com, stitch-n-frame.net, thousands of bolts, and there have been a couple of other places that were so helpful when I was looking for fabrics I ran short on while working on a project.

For practicing on, plain unbleached muslin is usually around a dollar a yard and as totallyblessed says, most fabric stores regularly have coupons to drop the cost even further. Many experienced sewers do practice/test pieces and try out new patterns on unbleached muslin because it's so cheap. Walmart also has a buck-a-yard table, so if you're over there for something else, stop by the fabric department - it may not be exactly what you want but if it's for practicing on I imagine day-glo orange paisley isn't quite so bad. ;-) (If your practice pieces come out well, donate them to Goodwill!) Fabrics-Store.com has pretty good prices in their "oops" and "doggie bag" departments; they specialize in linen. People rave about eBay for fabric shopping. I haven't bought anything yet but I'm drooling over upholstery fabrics for a chair and a couch (the couch is a "someday").

I saw pillows on Etsy made from the first one. There are some great buys on both sites if you can find something that appeals to you. FabricGuru even has some nice ones in the 50% off section, including tapestries and chenille.

Errant, if you can show a pic of your chairs, and what colors you'd like, maybe we can help you find some options.

These are the chairs. Floor and drapes will stay, but I may try to find a rug. I'd like to find something the fits in with A&C style, but am not really sure how to find it on that site.

Would paisleys interest you at all? I was looking last night and had no idea of your colors, but was looking at reds, rusts, greens, etc and am glad to see I was on track! Are your drapes a deep wine color? You're right - there is no way to zero in on a style at either site, but I scroll quickly through the 'Barn' site and save ones of interest on my 'Swatch Wall' there. I'll note some numbers for you, and you can look them up by searching on them.

The drapes are called Huckleberry, they have a bit more blue than a wine color, but close. I do like paisleys :)

I don't see a "Barn" section. I do see "Fabric Cellar - Clearance." Is that where I should be looking?

I was bad - I neglected to put a link in for the Barn Fabric store. They are two separate sites. This is the link to Barn Fabric - HERE

That will take you to the drapery section, which I looked through last night before I knew your colors. They have many paisleys in the section. Look for fabrics that begin with the the letter D, not DM, as the DM ones aren't included in the sale.

I've just gone through the drapery and upholstery sections very quickly, and found a few that might blend with your colors, based on what I see on the chairs now.
