I've used Hancock's of Paducah - the order has always been correct, and very timely. Keepsake Quilting - also always correct and timely.

Connecting Threads - I ordered on-line from a physical catalog, and the colors were WAY off. I know that photos can vary from the actual fabric, but these really were way off - dark pinks were actually medium reds. They offered to give me credit when I complained, but as it happened, I was able to use the fabric anyway. Their customer service was courteous and helpful.

I usually prefer to buy from the local quilt fabric store, but they're small, and sometimes they just don't have what I want.

Hancock's of Paducah is my favorite on-line vendor.

Oh I have had excellant experiences online thats where I buy most of mine. I have used the 2 Mary spoke of and Over the Rainbow tons of times. Z & S Fabrics is great too.

I have been ordering on-line for about 2 years now and have had great service and received wonderful product. I live in Canada so the difference in prices is also attractive.

I would say my only drawback is I need to purchase a certain amount to justify the shipping. Now I have a hard time buying in our quilt shops that charge $16-$20 a meter and I have to travel as well.

I do have a couple of favorite shops that I cater to more than others and they treat me very well being a regular customer.

I've bought a lot of fabric online and had MOSTLY good experiences with a couple tales of caution to tell.

I got one batik that had what looked like black dots here and there online on it -- turned out thery were SEQUINS sewn on! It was tedious but I was able to remove them. I've gotten a couple that I just did not like in person -- they had a much darker pattern than it seemed online. And one orange that had the same name as fabric I had in my stash but turned out to be a flannel and they sent less than I ordered despite my note that I needed at least 3 yards.

ALL THAT ASIDE -- 99% of my experiences have been great and I see the internet as a wonderful resource for fabric. I've only buy the sale fabrics ($4 a yard or less) and thousandsofbolts.com and quiltinaday.com are two I have ordered from a few times with consistently good experiences.

OK, I'm off to check out hancocks of pacucka(Sp?) now...

I order just 99% of my fabric online never had a bad order but do try to stay with name brand fabric on sale if possible, I have about 10 places I visit regular.

Have always wanted to, but have never ordered on-line.I live in Canada-a small rural area- and would like to have a larger selection of products to choose from. Jean, are there certain places you favor? How do you pay? I'm a bit paranoid about ordering stuff on-line. Any advice? Thank you.

Most of my on-line ordering has been very positive. Fabric Club once sent me the wrong fabric due to a human error and they let me keep the wrong fabric at no charge - which was fine with me as it was 100% cotton and I used it for a quilt back.

I have used others but really liked these. The one thing I dislike about online ordering is I can't feel the fabrics. My orders from here have always been very accurate, often include extra fabric, and the fabrics have been exactly as described, but not always what I was hoping for. Some "white" is not as white as I would like, some are a bit thinner than I was expecting. But on the other hand, I only have Wal-Mart locally to get fabrics from.

Try thousandsofbolts.com for really good prices. They carry all the name brand batiks and other fabrics, and most go for $3.85-$4.50 per yard.

I've ordered from 5bucksayard and a Christmas fabric site, both with good results.

I have ordered from different places on line and have mostly positive results. I usually order items that I can't find in local shops as I don't like the shipping cost but sometimes they are balanced by the lack of taxes. I usually stick with known fabric brands that I have had success with.

I order online a lot, in fact, most of my fabric buying is online. I have had very good service and have been pleased with my purchases.

The only one I've had problems with is Hancocks-Paducah.com, seems there is an error in every order, but, they always correct the errors, no questions asked, and, if they send the incorrect item, they send the correct item, and let me keep the wrong item. For instance, a year or so ago I ordered a couple of rulers, when the order came, I received a 6 1/2 X 6 1/2 ruler that I didn't order, they not only sent the correct ruler, but insisted that I keep the one sent in error. I've also had problems with them sending the wrong fabric, and again, they always send the correct one and have me keep the wrong one.

I've had very good service and correct and timely orders from ConnectingThreads.com, stitch-n-frame.net, thousands of bolts, and there have been a couple of other places that were so helpful when I was looking for fabrics I ran short on while working on a project.

I have had very good experience with Connecting Threads and colors seemed true on what I bought. If I order $50 at a time, they ship free.

I am in the same situation as Beverly, it's either online or Wal-mart.
I have found orders from everyone but JoAnne's to be satisfactory. I only order muslin from them to use in raggedy quilts.
Eleanor Burns has really good sales. I also try for the free shipping and I know it is only going to get more expensive.

My only experience of buying fabric online is from thousandsofbolts.com - I have purchased twice from them and have been very happy with both the service and the fabrics. Quilt shops here sell fabric for around $20-25 a metre, so with an average of $4 a yard from thousandsofbolts, it's great pricing. The only drawback is the postage costs and so I buy 6 yards at a time to justify the cost. The fabrics are just as they describe - you can actually zoom in for a closer look - and the colours are true. I would certainly deal with them again.

I have ordered from Web Fabrics, Fat Quarter Shop, ebay, Sew Batiks, and Connecting Threads. I am sure there are more that I am not thinking of. The last order with Connecting Threads had one of the fabrics wrong, but I decided that it actually worked better than the one I had originally picked out! I think they knew me better than I know myself :).
