Going to go look at a house today! (long)
Comments (23)Sue, it has a heat pump, but also radiant heat in the ceiling, which I love. The realtor didn't know if it still worked or not, though. She's going to find out. I did have my house inspected but I don't think it did me a lot of good. There were still problems with it after I moved in that he never mentioned in his report. I have looked at a lot of houses in town, though, none recently other than this one. There aren't alot of big houses in the area I want to move. If there are, they're a story and a half which I don't want, even though they are super cute. At my age and looking forward, I don't want anything with stairs. The house is nice, but I have some problems with it. The closets all are loose on the bottom, not attached to floor tracking. Thought that was kinda weird. There are lots of closets, though, and I love that. The floor slopes in a few rooms, like the master bathroom, kitchen and garage. They redid the flooring in the kitchen and dining area but didn't cut the tile right, or put edging or anything around the edges so there are big ugly gaps near the edge where the flooring and cabinets/walls should meet. It's an old house, built before 1978 so I didn't think it was going to be perfect. I do love the separate rooms, living room, den, dining room, laundry room, and the bedrooms are much bigger than mine. I'd only have to run one line of fencing to keep the dogs in the backyard. There is a separate area completely fenced off but I would use that area for a garden. The hardwood floor is beautiful. It also has new windows. I also love the built in desk in the den, built in shelves in that same room around the fireplace. I think I'm going to call about getting pre-approved and then maybe go back and look at it again before I have an inspection done or go any further....See MoreKids going home to an empty house after school-need your help!
Comments (3)No one is going to tell you that they allow thier kids to come home after school and stay by themselves but that they are not mature or responsible enough to do so! I am not sure your questions are going to get you an unbiased result....See MoreStay home and clean the house or go to the horse show?
Comments (14)Thanks. I have also heard it said many times, "A clean house is a sign of a sick mind." I have also heard, "A clean house is a sign of a broken computer." Chasing dust has never been my forte. Many times when my sister would come to visit, she would be quite critical of dust. After she had a baby, she no longer 'fretted over dust' at my house or hers. I even saw dust bunnies at her house, but never mentioned it. I was glad she had gotten a life, and it was no longer centered around chasing dust. One can dust well one day, and it will just be back to some degree in a day or so. I prefer to just do a really good cleaning every so often, in my 'spare' time, or before I expect company. Please don't date my dust Sue...See MoreGo big or go home!
Comments (170)For Karen - my tent is approx 70cm wide by approx 70cm deep by 160cm tall. I use two 20watt heatmats in the base connected to a thermostat and run it at about 88-90 degrees. Originally it was about 95-98 degree but turned it down a while back and everything is fine and dandy in there. I have 2 Mars lights in it, a double at the bottom and a single up top. Egg crate in the base so that heat does not get trapped by pots sitting on it so the crate create the space needed for the heat to flow and escape. Also I use one fan for air circulation. This is just how I do it, it works pretty good for me. I also have the vent on one side and the roof open very slightly all the time....See MoreUser
