This year I have been seeing more and more giant, freestanding art work used in home decor — and I mean big powerful pieces. Using large sculptural pieces takes the pressure off trying to layer many smaller pieces of decor. A coffee table, for example, can look smokin' hot with just one large piece of sculpture.
There are so many decor objects you can find to give your room personality. Next time you head out to your local source for home decor, keep the "go big or go home" motto in mind. Here are some ideas to get you started working with sculptural art in a big way.

Sculptural art can be big and still feel soft, creating a beautiful backdrop.
Freeform sculptures give a living room the feel of a natural wonderland. I would love to see the shadows they would make on the walls when used with uplighting.
A large sculpture placed on a coffee table has a minimal yet dramatic effect because of its weight in the center of the room. If you are unsure of how to dress a coffee table, this could be a good solution.
Use your sculpture to hold hand towels! I am going to get one that holds necklaces.
Here is another coffee table that does not require any further decor. This centerpiece is tall, but it does not look heavy thanks to its light finish and sense of movement.
In an open floor plan, a sculpture can help make a distinction between spaces while setting a dramatic or reflective tone.
Sculpture doesn't have to look like stone. Use colorful pieces!
If you have a long hallway, a tall, freestanding sculpture gives the corridor interest without adding clutter. If I had this sculpture in my home, I would salute it every time I passed by.
There is something spa-like about a space that features a big natural element made of wood or reminiscent of stone. Light paint and a large harmonious sculpture turns this room into a retreat.
Chunky tabletops call out for large, bold decor to balance its thickness.
What to do with smaller niches? Add large pieces that take up a bulk of the box space and light them up. At night it will look stunning!
If you have a room full of windows and don't want to place furniture against them, add a large sculpture for a very interesting, inviting presence.
And remember, sculptural art can be brought in through a light fixture!
