Stay home and clean the house or go to the horse show?

What should I do...the house will still be here but who knows when I will get to go to another National Horse show? Stacy

Horse show no doubt. If you stay home you might regret not attending the horse show, but if you attend the horse show would you regret not cleaning the house?

Heck no on the house but I am going to the show tomorrow that is why I can't decide....S

Having been a recent house guest for a few days, here are some ideas to consider. Although it is nice to go out to eat a lot, it is overwhelming to eat big meal after big meal over and over. So much rich food can be hard on the digestion after a while. I would prefer to have some fix it yourself breakfast and lunches. A variety of fresh fruits, veggies, breads, beverages, crackers, deli take out items, bagels, etc would be a nice thing to cycle into the meal plans. If you will be heading to scheduled activities, and especially if you are working and need to be on time, I would make breakfast "on your own" during those days. Guests should get to sleep in, and you shouldn't have to worry about being late. If there is a small market or convenience store in easy walk/bike ride for them, point it out. They may want to get some junk food or people magazines and wallow on your sofa listening to Pandora. I know I love to do that on vacation. I would probably let the guests have 1 day a week to have the washer /dryer to themselves so they can attend to their laundry needs. But of course you can always pop in a load if necessary. Getting in exercise is important too. Can they walk easily in your neighborhood? Is it tricky not to get lost? I will drop a pin at my host's address on my cell phone map when I go on a walk, especially in a culdesac subdivision where many streets have the same name (Maple street, lane, circle, etc.) I am sure they have the internet. They can check out your area. Ask them what sights you can drop them off to explore on their own. Maybe they want to go to an antique area and window shop and have lunch. Maybe a museum. Maybe a sporting event. You don't necessarily need to do everything together. Also, would add to have bottled water and canned sodas available, even if your family typically doesn't. It is a nice thing to have available.

@dhygarden, I'm sorry I didn't see this sooner. It's so hard to recover from the loss of a good friend. I also lost a good friend and neighbor at the end of October last year. She was fighting ovarian cancer and seemed to be doing quite well when she suddenly passed away from a stroke. I see her husband and their little Yorkie, Oliver whenever I walk by the house. Oliver sometimes comes running over to visit if his "dad" is working in the garage. He has a crush on my Siamese. I hope you are healing. I enjoyed reading everyone's posts and seeing your photos as well. I also fell in love with Ingrid's little dog! I adore cats and dogs.

I've been walking. I also have been doing my normal gym floor work and stretching in the living room. Body weight squats and lunges. Push-ups. Kettlebell swings (with a dumbbell, because I don't actually own a kettlebell). And I broke out my stepladder to do step-ups. I have some resistance bands that I haven't broken out yet but was thinking this morning that I should for rows and the like. But I haven't been working out as often as I should (that was also a problem when I was going to the gym...). I always intend to take a walk every day, but I'm fortunate enough to still have a full-time job working from home, and cooking and cleaning are taking up way more of my time than normal. So the days have been getting away from me. I need the structure, though, and the exercise, and the change of scenery.

I’m very pleased with what our governor and state health experts have planned for MN so far. We have stay at home until May 4 but announced today that a subset of businesses that are not customer facing can reopen as early as Monday but they must have a written CV19 mitigation plan before they can open. The state has provided a template and will assist if needed. Schools will continue with distance learning for the rest of this school year. Some kind of restrictions will continue indefinitely but the state will gradually allow additional activity over time starting with lowest risk first and continuing as long as cases don’t spike and overwhelm the public health surveillance capability or hospital capacity. We have now established a centralized testing function with a leadership team from Mayo, U of MN including Michael Osterholm, Dept of Health and each of the large healthcare delivery organizations that is not dependent on out of state resources. Ramping up now and should be at full capacity in a few weeks. Also ramping up teams for contact tracing, isolation, etc. Overall I think it is a well thought out plan based on the best science and data that we have and will be continually evaluated and adjusted as things change.

I got a better idea, come up here and help me clean house! The wedding is Saturday and I am so behind in housework! plus it rained almost a inch yesterday and I am not sure it even pays to clean, but its the only day I can do it!

Then tomorrow you can go to the horse show! LOL (what can I say, I'm selfish!)

I vote that we all go and help nodakgal clean house to get ready for that wedding. With all of us working, we will be done so fast, that we can all go to Stacy's and clean her house. Then all of us can go to the horse show today and tomorrow.

I am loving Gazanias idea the best! LOL I decided to stay home it is pouring down rain in tulsa and I get way nervous driving in the rain but ask me have I cleaned anything LOL Stacy

This is a no brainer. Go to the horse show. Any excuse to keep from doing housework is fine with me.

horse show over house work any day...

nodakgal...know you're fretting about house work but i'd just do a lick and a promise...run the vac and hide the clutter...

i'm loling...for ds1's wedding not only did we clean but redid the kitchen, in time of the rehersal dinner...NOT one person saw a thing!! it was outside and everyone just walked thru the yard...sigh...

I have also heard, "A clean house is a sign of a broken computer."

Chasing dust has never been my forte.
Many times when my sister would come to visit, she would be quite critical of dust.
After she had a baby, she no longer 'fretted over dust' at my house or hers. I even saw dust bunnies at her house, but never mentioned it. I was glad she had gotten a life, and it was no longer centered around chasing dust.

One can dust well one day, and it will just be back to some degree in a day or so. I prefer to just do a really good cleaning every so often, in my 'spare' time, or before I expect company.

Please don't date my dust
