HELP! Wilting Memorial Day
Comments (11)It is easy to tell if it is too dry. Check the soil. It has been raining incessantly in the east so my guess would be it is too wet. The most likely thing is that the rose is not taking up enough moisture for some reason. Was it very hot? Check the canes for damage down to the soil line and below. If you don't find anything it must be the root system. Have you left your roses outdoors in all this rain? Maybe they have started to rot. I don't grow roses in containers but I would suspect that they are very wet and you are stressing them with fertilizer and fungicide. Also, Mancozeb is strong stuff. Maybe you shouldn't have sprayed it on new growth. And BTW, Mancozeb is a waste of time. I am sure that you absolutely don't need it if you spray with Banner or Bayer....See MoreAre you quilting this weekend? (Memorial Day)
Comments (22)It looks like summer chores has priority with everyone right now! I haven't even walked into the sewing room yet. I spent most of the morning stripping pine needles off of the branches of 3 pine trees my husband cut down because the power company came along and butchered them AGAIN. They do this every couple of years and the way they wack the trees up they will never amount to anything and they look just awful. So this is free mulch, just time-consuming. Also walked way out to the corner of the property to the pond, he told me an interesting looking plant was blooming out there, so I had to take the camera out to photograph it. I'm doing an album of all the native plants on our 5 acres. Maybe tomorrow I'll mosey into the sewing room ...maybe not....See MoreMemorial Day Metallica Pruning day.
Comments (25)Been forever since I've had time for any plumie forums, and if I owe anyone anything Ill send it out. Lisa if you still want the DSP, have it rooted..let me know? Stephen didnt get your info till after I had gone to the patch and haven't had any time since that Friday early afternoon to do anything with plumies there, but will send out the cutting of Lyndie Wyes Sweet Lyndie Just an update on the 4ft Metallica Cutting I took on May 25th. After I cut it I left it to dry out for couple of days, so I thought, actually ended up being 3 weeks as I was busy. June 15th (3wks) I went back and put the cutting in water. On Jul 2nd, I went and saw that there was popcorn and a slightly swollen bottom, so I put it in a bag to root. Well it's July 24th and I went to the apartments and decided to check on the Metallica bag rooting, well its rooted with some nice roots. From June 15th to July 24th, thats a total of 5 weeks 4 days for some nice roots and leaves. I also had a Thai Domeno branch that a gardening crew I hired broke off and tried to hide it, found it like a month later when it was all wrinkled and soft. Water rooted it then bagged it up, it also has leaves and roots just starting to show. I haven't watered my patch in 3 months, plants only get watered when it rains(luckily it rained 2days strait last week). Here are some pics: JL Metallica: Currently blooming Thai Domeno: I was telling a plumie friend a month or so ago I am thinking about selling off most of my collection as I have had no spare time. Since I do not water them, some are looking bad, thin branches and wrinkly/soft, and some with no leaves, thank god for the 2 days of rain over the last weekend that helped them to recover a bit. I am truly shocked that some still have leaves and are flowering with the abuse and neglect. This shows me how resilient plumies are. Cheers....See MoreHelp! Memorial Day cookout!
Comments (4)Don't panic! It will be just fine. If you're talking about what to do about food, I'm thinking you can probably still cook pretty much the same menu; if it isn't raining too hard, you can probably even still use the grill. If you are asking about activities -- well, what would you do if you were outdoors? If you were going to sit around and chat, then just do that indoors. If you were going to play games, then you've got a group that likes games, so you can play indoor games instead, like charades. If all else fails, watch a movie! Have fun. I know your guests will....See More- 7 years ago
