Good Luck Smitty Using POP on multiple clients or mobile devices If you're accessing your Gmail using POP from multiple clients, Gmail's recent mode makes sure that all messages are made available to each client, rather than only to the first client to access new mail. Recent mode fetches the last 30 days of mail, regardless of whether it's been sent to another POP client already. In your POP client, replace 'username@gmail.com' in the Username field your POP client settings with 'recent:username@gmail.com'. Blackberry users will be signed in to recent mode automatically, without adding 'recent:'. Once you enable recent mode, please be sure to configure your POP client to leave messages on the server according to the instructions below: In Outlook, on the Advanced tab, check the box next to Leave a copy of messages on the server. In Outlook Express, on the Advanced tab, check the box next to Leave a copy of messages on server. In Apple Mail, on the Advanced tab, remove the check next to Remove copy from server after retrieving a message. In Thunderbird, on the Server Settings tab, check the box next to Leave messages on server.

When I click on settings the page that opens has 9 tabs, General,accounts, labels, filters,forwarding Imap/POP,chat , webclips,labs and themes. Clicking on the labs tab gave me a list of many new options to add. I also like the new themes, I have mine looking like a beach are you using the new version? look up at the top right corner does it say anything there about new version or older version, that is how you know which one you are using. Mine has the option to switch to older version so I am using newer version.

I don't know about what you are requesting, but you can have your gmail mails downloaded in OE. My provider does not have an e-mail server, so I have a couple of gmail accounts. I have them configured to download to Outlook Express, and this works just fine for me. I simply open OE and get my emails. Open your gmail account and click Settings. Then choose Forwarding and POP/IMAP. Tick 'Disable forwarding', and then under Status tick whichever choice you wish. The instructions are also there for configuring OE to allow gmail to be downloaded. This might be easier and better for you than trying to reverse the other action.

I don't think it provides any security against hackers, it just prevents interception (by using encryption) when the session is on a non-secure network. For people on a secure/home network, no effect. I'm not certain and the preceding could be wrong. It's a good practice anyhow to have nothing in your email account that you wouldn't want in the hands of someone with bad intentions. That way, there's no reason to have anxiety about unauthorized access. You change your password, or in more serious cases, you set up a new email address, and move on with your life. People get so dramatic and fearful about such things, an email break-in isn't like a home invasion by a gang of 5 lawless bikers.
