just added this week to GMail is the ability to add pictures inline in your email body as is available on most email clients, to find how to do this and other neat additions to your GMail check out this Official Gmail blog.

New in Labs: Inserting images

"RC", THANK you sooooo much for the https valuable info! My server switched to Gmail a month ago so I checked and saw they have the https with a padlock down at the bottom. My other personal Gmail accounts didn't so I followed your instructions and now have the https/padlock. THANKS!

Hi, Ginny Some services (like Hotmail, Yahoo and Fastmail) have aliases, additional email addresses at which you can receive email but which are part of your main account. You can create these aliases for use specifically with certain recipients. One alias for shopping, newsletter sign-ups, etc. Another for message boards, twitter, youtube, etc. Another for business, etc. In fact, some people, knowing in advance that a certain service has aliases, will create an account with a username that they intend to use only for login purposes. They use only the aliases for actual sending/receiving of email. This helps keeps the account username secret and adds (a little) to the security of the account. For Gmail (the subject of this thread) the only place aliases can be used is with Google Apps (where they are called "nicknames"). But to use that you have to have your own domain. They're cheap, though: about $10/yr -- and Google Apps is free. But for regular Gmail account users, the only way to accomplish what you want is create a second (or third or fourth) account. Then, if you want to avoid always having to login and check both accounts, set up the second account to forward all incoming mail to your main account, and set up your main account to be able to send from the second Gmail account. Both of those are very easy to do. :-)

When signing in to gmail, there's a box with a check in it that says "Stay signed in". When two people use the same PC, uncheck that box before signing in. Otherwise, the first user's username will come up each time. Two ways to clear it: 1) Clear the browser's history, close it, then open again and start gmail. The user field should be blank. 2) Click on "Sign on as someone else" or something like that, then remove that persistent user or add a second user. Third choice, which avoids the recurring problem: 3) You use 1 browser for gmail, the other user in the house uses a different one. Remember which is which. Clearing browser data every day, or every few days, is a good idea anyway.

(milf is an abbreviation for "mother I'd like to f..k", apparently I learned it when my daughter went to high school here and one of the kids asked her that about me. " Is your mother MILF?" which she naively told me. she was 14 back then so quite a few years ago. I had all sorts of friends and aquaintances since early age until now lol but talking about mothers was and remains a taboo. So. I have it -- and have enabled it -- in both my Gmail and Google Apps accounts, but for some reason the "insert picture" function doesn't work when trying to insert a .gif smiley I have in My Documents. I get a "failed" message. :-(

When I click on settings the page that opens has 9 tabs, General,accounts, labels, filters,forwarding Imap/POP,chat , webclips,labs and themes.

Clicking on the labs tab gave me a list of many new options to add.

I also like the new themes, I have mine looking like a beach

are you using the new version? look up at the top right corner does it say anything there about new version or older version, that is how you know which one you are using.
Mine has the option to switch to older version so I am using newer version.

well that is just strange! You might want to go to their forum and ask how to get those other tabs to appear. You don't even have the themes tab. Actually on that blog page I think you can comment down at the bottom you might comment there saying you do not have those tabs and want to know how to get them.

Well, it's not limited to those browsers mentioned above. I use Opera most of the time and my Gmail and my GA accounts both show Labs and Themes in that browser.
