I rarely use Chrome anyway. But I did check, and it's all updated.

Can you fix this by stop using Chrome and using something else?

I have maintained an old computer with XP for these reasons:

1. There is an older HP flat bed scanner on it that does a better job of scanning than most any all-in-one printer. Also, it can accept sheets up to 8.5 x 14 inches. The scanning head drive is more robust than consumer scanners presently offered.

2. There some software on that machine that will not run on newer versions of Windows, and it would cost me thousands of dollars to replace. One is a drafting/sketching program. Nowadays, I use that mostly for creating forms and printing forms created in the past.

jemdandy-I am by no means a whiz at this,however,from what I have read,yes,you can stop it-do not use google chrome-switch to another browser and you should be alright.

The only real issue is if you use gmail....and in that case,you will have to export all of your addresses etc. to another email account.

So, I am guessing I am ok? I don't and have never used Chrome, nor the windows version that the
warning talks about. I am still using windows 7, and I will just hang
on for now.

I personally don't like Gmail one bit. I use it as a junk mail address. Yahoo is my main email, and from what I've read, it's going to be obsolete when AOL? takes over Yahoo. I have no idea what email to use at that point.

Jasdip maybe you'll think about switching to gmail. Not sure why you don't like it. It's got tons of storage space, great spam filters, you can make folders and organize all your mail, I've been using it for years.

Gmail is my good email account that I use only for family and important mail, very little spam comes to this one because I rarely give that email address to anyone.

Hotmail is my throwaway mail that I use to sign up for forums, forms, Twitter, YouTube and Facebook. I'm always battling spam on this one but it has junk filters that learn when I mark something as junk.

I never use the old yahoo account, I keep it because of a couple of forums that I've belonged to forever and signed up with that email. I probably should change my email on the forums and shut that one down.

Jasdip, why don't you like Gmail?

I used Gmail as part of a work project (it's what was used) and I hated all the conversations lumped in a thread. There were different people and addresses in the same thread, and I wasn't sure who I was responding to.

I'm also used to the yahoo shortcuts......."k" marks the message as read, the delete button moves it to trash, the D moves it to a folder of your choice, etc. Gmail doesn't have this, and it's so much quicker.

It's the conversations and a few other things that I don't like about it.

Jasdip--I use Gmail as my junk address, but I have found the same confusion you did with it. I assumed I just needed to use it more to get used to it.

I don't like gmail, either. Not at all. I use it as my junk account and almost never check it.

You can change that on Gmail it is very customizable. I hate the conversation mode so I turn it off in settings and it appears just like all my other email accounts. It is my secondary address my primary is Hotmail which I have had since I got on the Internet don't have much spam with either of them. Now the one I had to set up with Comcast, I never use, it will have thousands of junk emails in it once a year when I check it. Apparently someone else had the same address at some point or very similar and I get tons of stuff with their name. Comcast has no interest in figuring out what is going on.

There are many very good tutorials for Gmail including the Gmail help. Once you customize it to your settings and liking it is not bad.

Change from conversation view

. Click Settings gear and select Settings. On the General tab, scroll down to Conversation View.

• If Conversation View is off, new messages won't be grouped into conversations, and any existing conversations are ungrouped into separate messages.
