thx mar .... got to entertain myself.. so may as well entertain you all .. lol ... actually i am very shy at parties ... anyway .. i cant keep track of every poster.. my first inclination is to shy newbies away from chemicals ... i once read the homeowner is the greatest polluter on earth.. using more chemicals per acre.. than a good farmer will use on 100 acres ... if the plant a few bucks.. why go nuclear ??? on the other hand.. as a guy who used to pay $250 for a hosta ... aka a hardcore collector.. i fully understand that there are many others of us ... that work in realm that includes the nuclear option.. but we tend to PROPERLY ID our nemesis's ... work on a preventive basis .. and use all cures properly and according to labeled instruction ... but i still stand by my statement.. that if it is rot.. odds are low for recovery ... but i didnt know about the evil weevil.. hmmmm .. regardless.. something is happening to the roots that is interfering in water movement to the upper plant ... and you wont know.. until you dig it up ... rot has a significant olfactory aroma .... you will now.. when you smell it ... think diaper .. lol .. ken

I would return the plant and the spray. I don't think you should have to go through the expense of treating a newly purchased plant. Let someone else buy the sick ones. Now you know to look closely for the most healthy ones. I am not in favor of spraying a 3 in 1 pest/fungal spray unless you have all of those problems. Pest sprays kill good bugs too. Crown rot and root rot are usually caused by a soil that is too wet. Take a good look at the soil this is growing in to see it that regualr watering and the amount of rain might have saturated the soil too much.

I've had good luck with one I bought recently - Heuchera 'Key Lime Pie' - a gorgeous chartreuse. I loosened the soil away from the crown and pulled off small divisions right at the crown (they didn't have any roots attached) - actually the correct term would be basal cuttings, I guess. Anyway, I trimmed each cutting down to just a couple of the smaller, new leaves. I stuck them just deep enough to stand up in a peat:perlite mix and rooted them under intermittent mist, though you could probably use a plastic cover in the shade - anything to keep them moist. Mine took about 3 weeks to root - I got eleven out of the twelve I stuck. I will plant them out in the garden next spring. The mother plant has now grown back to about the same size it was before I took the cuttings, so am going to do some more. Heuchera Palace Purple is one that will come true from seed - you might try collecting seed.
