RMV - the plant will continue to grow & bloom. It may be less vigorous or less winter hardy than a non-virused plant.

It seems to be spreading to other roses. Is that because of deadheading with the same pruners? I am panicking. Should I pull all diseased plants up?

I'm not sure it is RMV. Tell us about your watering and fertilizing and weather, please.

I live in zone 7b (central Alabama). It can get very hot and humid, but so far this spring it has not been too humid yet. My bed is a raised bed with a combination of Black Kow and topsoil. I fertilize primarily organically with moo poo tea and alfalfa tea. However, when I first noticed the problem I added some coffee grounds and some used some Rose Tone--thinking there might be a nutrient deficiency. it seems to have helped a little. I am wondering if I need to add sulfur. The PH when I checked it was at about 7 or an inkling below. Could that be the problem--not acidic enough? I water the bed with a hose, but I water at the base of the rose not overhead--though we have had several thundershowers lately. I don't spray pesticides, but I do spray a fungicide--bayer advanced disease control for blackspot which I do not have yet. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

RMV does not spread from rose bush to rose bush in your garden so if your seeing this same problem on your other roses it is another problem and not RMV...

Thank you so much! I kind of thought it was a deficiency problem as well. This is only my 3rd year growing roses, and the first time I have come across this problem. Should I add sulfur to raise the ph or is it too late for that? I have noticed that the new leaves emerging look to be normal. I really appreciate your help!

The roses could re-act to the sulphur so I would just wait it out as they are not going to die. Then if it the problem continues, buy a simple soil sample kit which is not expensive, it will give you a general idea of what is going on in regards to minerals in the soil. Many times roses will correct their own problems and get adjusted to growing in different soils.

I thought I had commented yesterday but I guess not. Just wanted to ask if this is a new bed or where there roses here last year. If there were roses here last year and they where fine. Don't jump too fast to change the ph. I would also wait it out a while and see how things develop. That would be better than trying to undo something that you changed.

I thank you all for your input! I am going to leave well enough alone for now and hope the problem corrects itself. I think I will also follow Oldrosarian's advice and buy a soil sample kit. If, indeed, one or more of my roses does have RMV, I am glad to know it does not spread. I have really enjoyed being part of this site. It is so helpful!

Does anyone have a link to a picture similar to the last picture posted in the original post which they feel suggests that the symptoms observed could be attributed to one of the classic rose viruses which were collectively called RMV?

Also, I did not find a reference as to what part of the country these roses are grown in.

I had the same issue. a number of my potted roses started to have yellow edges. They were still ok in the past 6 months. I know my tap water is slightly alkaline ph8 here.
