Do these drapes go? Are there drapery rules?
Comments (31)prairiegirlz5: budge1 was considering the Silk Taffeta drapes which are a shinier silk and give a more formal look. The Thai Silk, also by RH, comes in the same colors and on their website it does look like the same stuff. So basically, whatever color she likes, she could get in either style. But, in person, they do look different as the Thai silk has less sheen and is more nubby--why it's so important to look at these drapes IRL. Budge1, are you near a RH? At the RH where I live, they have panels up of the majority (not all) of the drapes which you have been looking at. There are differences not only in terms of the sheen, but with the fullness as well--some are interlined others only one lining. If you get any type of stripe, they show differently depending on the pleat/rod style you choose. With stripes in the pleated styles one of the colors would be much more apparant than the other....See MoreWhere do you buy drapery rods?
Comments (10)Just wanted to let you know I found more of the Canopy Rods at another newer Wal-Mart. I am one happy camper. The rods are a much less expensive version of a design I'd expect to see at Pottery Barn or Restoration Hardware. The quality is excellent and the prices can't be beat. I recommend anyone in the market seek out this brand. The 36 - 66" rods were $25 and the 66 - 120" rods were $31. My total for 2 of each was about $110. They are 1 1/2" diameter rods, nice and substantial too. I am simply thrilled with this purchase. It is for my "temporary" window treatment -- someday I will spring for the custom drapes I really want, I hope, and these rods might get the boot. But they look really amazing with the panels I got from Linens and things (108" long tone on tone striped damask in a pale straw color w/coupon only $20 each!! I needed 13 panels for my project). We just have so many other expenses right now, that I am proud of myself that for a total investment of $380 I have all the draperies I need to polish up my very large kitchen dining room/great room. Can't wait to get them up......See MoreWhat drapes would work?

Comments (4)I think a drape would be pretty and I agree that you don’t want room darkening. We have French doors in our living room and have cellular shades on them. Definitely not as dressy as drapes. If you zoom in on the pictures you can see how the shades are attached to the door so they don’t bounce around when you open the door. I leave these shades open most of the time, but lower them on hot summer days. Today is a cloudy day so the light is darker than usual....See Moreindygo
