Peace and Chicago Peace
Comments (6)This rose deserves its popularity, even with declining health. Both Peace & Chicoago Peace produce very beautiful blooms that last well cut. To my nose, Chicago Peace is a bit more fragrant and it seems easier to get a healthy plant. There are 3 three! plants of Peace in the modern roses at the arboretum where I work and the new plant from J&P seems no better than the older plant. The best of the 3 is a 10 year old plant (unknown origin) of Climbing Peace-- a generous bloomer, and with enormous stiff canes she stands on her own; we occasionaly have to lash an errant cane to a tomato stake to keep her out of the way of the guys who cut the grass....See MoreChicago Peace from Lowe's
Comments (2)That is one reason I only buy blooming roses from big box stores. Maybe you can post a picture of it here? Some surprises are even better than what we wanted. Some not....See MoreAtypical, yellow Chicago Peace
Comments (6)It looks like it reverted back to its sport parent, Peace. It does that sometimes, and so do other sport varieties. What really gets interesting is when there is a dividing line right down the middle of the flower where one half is a normal Chicago Peace while the other half is a reversion to Peace....See MoreFaces of my Chicago Peace
Comments (34)Hi Sam, yes I like all the different colors and am getting used to even the stripes CP has all in one rose. So you also know that one of Elle's pollen parents is Chicago Peace:) Those two ought to make some very beautiful roses in your garden. From the start CP was on my HT list and remained there even when I had to whittle it down. You helped me make some choices and I appreciated your opinion last fall. BTW, I ended up with Proud Land as a red last year because it was a gift. Next spring I might get something a little more red and still thinking Chrysler Imperial and put it on the fence line for height. Jean, thank you for both complements, mine are on the smaller side right now too because of the heat. That is what roses the budworms aren't eating. Cary the cat appears a lot, especially now that I know you enjoy him, I include him in my more recent photos when I take them and he's around:)...See MoreBethC in 8a Forney, TX
