Great I love it when it gets those stripes

They are lovely, Leslie. All kinds of things can effect the colors, cold, heat, sun, water, fertilizers, etc. or any combination thereof. It's a very interesting progression of changes, thanks for sharing it.

Thanks for the complements. This was the easiest of the large roses to grow until recently, it's had a few problems and I think I agree with you Seil. I note on the pics the date, I ought to also note the temps, we had some really wild swings too in those months. Next year same time I'll know what's usual or not here.

Thank you both, and that's a cucumber beetle. He's one of the ones who makes neat little round holes in my rose blooms. He particularly likes Angel Face besides Chicago Peace.

Gorgeous; My Chicago Peace takes on different colors, too,some I like and some I don't,but mine has never had stripes in it,YET.The blooms are smaller right now,too. I love your kitty.Its gorgeous.Would love to have one with those markings on it.Would laso like to see some more photos of it.

Those are very pretty. I have had a Chicago Peace in the past, but never with such solid colors. Yours are beautiful. (I hate those cucumber beetles with a passion.)

Nce pictures and pretty kitty!

I was at HD yesterday and went thru their shrubs (looking for a particular one, but no one seems to have it in this state). Anyway, tucked in amongst the Knock Out roses, I saw an orange/pink blend that was just awesome. Guess who now is the proud owner of a Chicago Peace? Sure wish it had some scent to go with the looks, but in this case, looks ARE everything!

Thanks Barb, that's a good nick name for that cat too, in the middle of petting him he can reach out and claw me. Or, walking by him he'll reach out and do that when I least expect it:) His brother has a little better temper.

My Chicago Peace put out a stark white blossom today. It is mixed in with a profusion of other, more typical Chicago Peace blossoms. Is there any explanation for this?

I saw my old thread again, I don't know where you are but it's been in the low 100's here. The buds on top on the bush are budding pretty pale. I have budworms and catepillars pretty bad right now. I don't have any solid white blooms but I'm think I'm seeing this now because of the heat here.

to offset that picture, the bud near it had been gotten to as well but not as bad. The bud yesterday was pretty pale but the bloom is a light pink with white edges.

Here is a picture of it, with some other blooms included so you can see that it usually puts out regular blooms. Definitely not as artistic as the ones above, but you get the idea!

That's very beautiful in it's own right though. You have a lot of white and lighter pinks going on in the other roses too. All of those are very beautiful and that looks like a nice healthy rose bush from what I can see too. I also think that's a pretty good pic, thanks for sharing it with me. Out of curiosity, what zone are you in and what have your temps been lately? I'm keeping track of mine noting dates & temps, this is a first year rose for me.

Curious if it is a heat thing, no one on HMF notes that with their roses other than one comment someone made about another white rose saying they believed it belonged on the Peace rose photos. Obviously it does not.

I just went to the Nursery , For the half price roses. Chicago Peace and Elle(Elle has a few different colors also) caught my Eye Right away. I was looking for something different from what I have. Your pictures are wonderful! I enjoyed seeing the colors of one rose. They also change from year to year. Thats what I like about this hobby.

Its a beautiful rose no matter what color it decides to produce.Right now I have 2 pretty pink blooms on mine,and much smaller blooms too.Theres that kitty I think is so pretty.hes a doll.

Hi Sam, yes I like all the different colors and am getting used to even the stripes CP has all in one rose. So you also know that one of Elle's pollen parents is Chicago Peace:) Those two ought to make some very beautiful roses in your garden. From the start CP was on my HT list and remained there even when I had to whittle it down. You helped me make some choices and I appreciated your opinion last fall. BTW, I ended up with Proud Land as a red last year because it was a gift. Next spring I might get something a little more red and still thinking Chrysler Imperial and put it on the fence line for height.

Jean, thank you for both complements, mine are on the smaller side right now too because of the heat. That is what roses the budworms aren't eating. Cary the cat appears a lot, especially now that I know you enjoy him, I include him in my more recent photos when I take them and he's around:)

The all white bloom happened the day after a death in the family, which made it all the more amazing and mysterious for us.

Genkoz, I have more blooms out there today and a lot of white appearing in them, but still no total white. That is really strange and if it was me, I'd have put it down to that too somehow. I'm sorry for your loss.
