Oh What a Difference 3 Weeks Makes
Comments (9)gardenweed, in order to get a picture to appear in this forum, I think most people link to a photo storage site like PhotoBucket or Picasa. The gallery forums also allow you to upload a picture into the forum itself, in the Preview step. (My apologies if that's all stuff you already knew, I've been told I have a rare talent for stating the obvious. :o)) I could email you some more detailed directions for either linking to a photo site or uploading a picture into a gallery forum, if you'd like. Just send me an email if you are interested. Trudi, you probably guessed the Sibirskij Stambovyj seeds are from you.. The funny thing is, I don't even like tomatoes unless they are part of a spaghetti sauce or salsa. I'm growing them for DH, who acted like I gave him a million dollars when I handed him a tomato that ripened on the vine last summer. I also enjoy the stories behind some of the heirloom tomatoes like mortgage lifter. I've also had many generous offers from people I didn't know I knew to help eat any extra tomatoes, so if I do get a bumper crop this year from the 16 that I planted, none will go to waste....See MoreWhat a difference a few weeks make
Comments (9)Josephine, I'll have to give it to someone who appreciates tiny, inconsequential, picky little hosta that have to be pampered. Delta Dawn (What's that flower you have on...?) Sorry, flashback. Thank you, I have 2 Orange Marmalades, One by the road (the one shown) that gets salt spray and abuse during the winter and another....... That sits on a mostly shaded, all alone on a south facing slope out back by the shed, that also thrives (the hosta , not the shed). Sandy, that S&S amazes me. I used to think my Elegans were big until I bought an SS. I have three now that are in areas of different exposures and different soil types. It doesn't seem to matter they thrive and get huge...my kind of hosta; big beautiful brutes. Jon...See MoreWhat a difference a week can make (progress pics)
Comments (21)Is 'interesting' good, Cohetele? (You don't have to answer) ;-) Thanks for all the encouragement and good wishes for the kitchen and for sleep. DH went straight to bed with a fever and sick stomach that the kids have been sharing, so I think I'll go to bed early, tonight, too. For once it'll be early today, not early tomorrow morning! Oldest DS is working away for us, though, so some progress is still being made. But he's not crazy like us and makes sure he gets plenty of sleep so he can get up for work. Glad to have helped inspire you to find your perfect colors, hockeychik. I can't wait to see what you come up with. Any real contenders so far? The one that wouldn't let loose of me was the burgundy...and the light, creamy gray kept nagging at me til I could ignore it no longer! It does seem like a lot of colors, I know, but I hope it ends up kind of understated and elegant, not 'colorful'. DH is my cabinetmaker, vicnsb. So, yes, custom! :-)...See MoreWhat a difference a week makes -
Comments (12)Ashke, I don't think we do anything especially. They are very top heavy when they are in full flower, but I find that quite a few David Austins hang their heads down. Many of ours do have multiple heads and not terribly long stems but these are OK. We did put on some Epsom salts (magnesium) last year and this year just chicken poo, and the general garden fertiliser - all the roses liked that. Thank you all, once again, for your kind comments....See Morewhgille
