Found Some! New, Crisp, Cool, Cotton Percale Sheets
Comments (97)I have some of the Target Threshold percales. One set was returned a month later as the fitted split down the middle, another was returned several months later falling apart at the elastic. Some of the print ones are rarely used but are ok...a white fitted that's used all the time is shredding at the elastic corners..Threshold has several makers, some are made in China and some in India. some of the exact sheets feel ok in the package and some feel like parachute fabric. Although with sheets now being treated with different chemicals like insecticide you really can't tell how a sheet will really feel until its had a number of good washes. All in all most of the Threshold sheets are worth buying, they arnt expensive so I guess if you use them regularly and they last a year its all good. Personally I feel sheets should be an investment, buy a few really good quality sheets and your set. I only use vintage percales, 100% long staple cotton....love them....See MorePercale or linen for sheets?
Comments (4)I have an old sheet in my collection that I am hanging on to simply because it feels so darned good. It is ancient. It is all cotton and it is the kind that used to feel so good when I was a kid and tucked into bed after a long hot summer day. Laying there on that cotton sheet that was dried in the hot sun and having that whirring little fan going on me through the hot summer night is one of my fondest memories. That soft cotton sheet brings back all of those memories and still feels so good. There is none like it. Micro fiber just does not have that same feel. It is just a plain woven, not even satin weave. Just plain good feeling, breathable cotton. Ahhhh!!...See MoreCrisp White Sheets
Comments (74)I will tell you how I got my vast collection of sheets and pillowcases. LOL. First I only like high quality 100-% cotton percale, and they need to be white, but to buy these new I'd need to sell my home so I went thrifting and to flea markets, what I found would make most people sick....100% cotton percale, white...ok the white was debatable...more In ranges of the nastiest white you can imagine, ranging from tan to the ugliest dirty brown and they all reeked to the high heavens...of course I did what all lovers of great vintage sheets from the 50's would do...I paid my 25 cents a sheet and went home with my treasure. I of course had to consider bed bugs so i bagged these up and put them behind hubs shed under a tarp. I dug out my huge and I mean huge old soup pot not used for cooking lol...I did one sheet at a time..put the sheet in soup pot, filled with hot tap water, put on stove top and turned on high...I added about 1/8 th cup of Tide with Bleach POWDER, brought to a boil and turned off stirring occasionally with a large wooden spoon....let cool to room temp..it stinks and the wa ter is brown...dump outside, refill and do same again....water lighter brown... d o a third time...water pretty clear..next step is to put it in the washer and spin out..start washer on a long sanitize cycle almost 160F with a hefty dose of Tide with Bleach powder and some ammonia....I did this more times than you can imagine, I had the time not the money...I was rewarded with the most beautiful, pure white sheets, that have no odors other than clean. I doubt even the most exexpensive sheets could handle such aggressivness today. LOL This is not for everyone for sure, but this was a way for me to have the highest quality sheets, better than anything on todays market for nothing more than my time. Haha....See MoreWhere to find percale split king sheet sets?
Comments (10)Yes, you need a pair of Twin XL fitted sheets for the bottom. And a regular king flat sheet for the top. It's not easy to find anything except a set of king sheets so you may have to buy the fitted sheets separately. I bought mine from Red Land Cotton, and they were kind enough to sell me the Twin XL sheets separately, plus a flat sheet and pillow cases separately as well. I called them and they fixed me up. I was a repeat customer, having bought a queen set previously as well as a baby gift. They are not cheap but the sheets are wonderful and well made....See MoreCadyren
