What type of dirt to fill large Koi pond?

I'm planning on grading my yard and adding new Bahia sod. I need to fill a Koi pond. I estimate it is about 12 to 15 yards. Should I just use fill dirt or top soil? Top soil is twice the price. I got some quotes from people and they suggested top soil. I'm guessing it is for the sod.

My plan is to either rent a skid loader or pay someone with a skid loader (bobcat). I will use it to fill the whole and then scrape the yard. The rest of the yard is covered in small brush and weeds. I'm not sure if I need to add compost or add a layer of top soil on top of that.

My other option is to spray round up to kill the brush and then scrap it.

What steps to you recommend? I live in Central Florida. It seems like it is fairly easy to grow things in the soil here. The yard is only 1/3 acres.
