About to add Koi back to pond... couple questions

Hi,

I have a fairly large pond, I think it's 1500-2000 gallons. The pond has not had any fish in it for the last two years, but I am planning to reintroduce a couple of mature Koi to within the next week.

I tested the water chemistry yesterday and everything is spot on. The thing I'm concerned about though is that there is a layer of leaves / dirt on the bottom of the pond, and also there has not been much maintenance done to the filtration in a while. (3 stage filters, blue mats, and brushes)

My local Koi store did not seem concerned this I mentioned it to them. He said it was best to not mess with the filtration as there is likely a good amount of bacteria already built up. Also, he said the fish would help to clear the layer of dirt and other debris from the bottom of the pond.

Just wondering if anyone else has differing thoughts on this?
