pictures of my pond - warning! lots of pictures
Comments (27)Thanks again everyone for the very kind comments! As far as breaking the 11th commandment, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's pond, well, I'm very guilty of that one. It is all the pics on this site that I've examined with almost stalker-ish fanaticism that has given me so many ideas and inspiration! Okiee-I'm using a 20 watt Pondmaster UV light and a discontinued filter that I got for very, very cheap (the Hozelock trinamic). The filter is rated for ponds up to 3000 gallons with heavy koi loads. As my pond is only about 1200 gallons, I think it's doing its job of keeping the pond very clear! LOL I oversized the filter because I know that my pond is overstocked. Lisa - I am going to be adding a 500 gallon addition to the pond this fall to hopefully give the koi some extra breathing space to grow. But, I know that because of the small size of my pond - even with the addition - I will have to likely have to part with some of my koi eventually. A local cafe/pottery shop/artist's retreat has several ponds with koi. I might ask them if they want some of my koi if they outgrow the home I can give them. I'm also planning on hooking up with some other local water garden societies so I can meet people who may welcome some adopted koi. I just want to make sure they go to a good home someday. But, before I get ahead of myself, I probably should just try to get them through a Wisconsin winter!! LOL (see my post on overwintering koi under thick ice)...See MoreLots and lots of blooming going on!
Comments (20)Well, thanks again. CTC, Mantis is correct that is Open My Eyes, and it does very well for me in zone 5. I bought it at Cottage Gardens actually!! The darker purple in the back of the eyed section is Gillian. Marg, Hold Your Horses is a Trimmer, I bought it from a seller here in zone 5, so I know it will grow well. Jean, thanks ( it's Bowie, and he has been taking it easy) Linda, I like the four paws rating system!! LOL. Vickie, Hold Your Horses is such an impressive daylily, I could see it from across the gardens where I bought it!! It just drew you in. Tobyjones, you should get Citrix, Maryott had it, but I was able to find it from a local grower, and I do blame Kay for making me go get it!!! hahahahaha. Thanks Kay! cindy...See Morelots & lots of baby pictures
Comments (8)oops! Thank you Paul. All my tags have been moved switched or blown away so it's been not so fun trying to remember what I planted where and figuring out what is what. I am going to definitely invest in some fancy new tags that can't get ripped out easily this summer and I am going to map it out too. My 4 yr old and 3 yr old have been taking all the tags out then come running up to me yelling"Mummy, Mummy look what we found!" It's hard to get too upset when you have the most beautiful blue eyes staring up at you thinking they did a good thing by bringing all these missing tags to you!...See Morevisually dividing one space into 2 rooms?
Comments (11)While it's difficult to say for sure since your pictures don't include the furniture in place nor the rug, my recommendation would be not to divide up the space visually too much with the different paint colors and/or trim. As you say your space is small, having a single unifying color will make your rooms feel more expansive, plus if you need to borrow space from one room for the other, such as seating for a larger group in the dining room, it will be more cohesive. I think grouping the LR furniture around the rug will unify that space. Adding a second rug below the dining room table will help ground that room as well. Once you add decor, paintings, art, etc. it will look lovely. That said, if you have your heart set on having a different paint color, I would think more in terms of an accent wall since the rooms are not competely separate....See MoreUser
