Encore Crackle Tile Questions...
Comments (13)Rubyclaire, the silver will be perfect. The walls in my kitchen & attached family room are painted a light medium gray and my fireplace is Revere Pewter. The furniture in the family room are a mix of light greys & greige (Revere Pewter). If you have the time, go ahead & order the sample but knowing your colors & expectations, I feel confident the Silver will be beautiful in your kitchen. I expected consistent light silvery gray tiles & was thrown off with the rosy greige in the mix. Several people (Hollysprings & Greendesigns are the ones that stick in my mind) pointed out that my kitchen needed warmth. They were right. The Silver is a beautiful neutral color & you'll be able to accent with almost any color. I had decided my accent color was going to be blue & got stuck on those blue tiles. If I had to do it all over again, I would choose the Silver. I never even saw the other colors because of that sample board the tile shop made. I would have had one heck of a time choosing a color, so many beautiful choices. I love Bookworm's Cameo & Marthastoo Mint but I think Silver is your color. Edit: to be perfectly honest, I had the hardest time letting go of those blue tiles. Sometimes, I'm like a dog with a bone. It wasn't until after the backsplash was installed that I saw the light. Encore made two separate attempts (fired two small batches) to get me those blue ones. Thank goodness they wouldn't let me mix in random blues from one of the other colors. I have two boxes of extra tiles too. One more thing, where is Greendesigns? I don't think I've seen one of his/her posts in a long time. Comments (66)Romy, They are the nicest crackle tiles I have seen. The saleswoman said she would NOT order me silver, as too often came with blue tones. The Cameo is on the other board, and has a green undertone. It is definitely not yellow, nor are my countertops (predominantly grey). I'm not sure it is best match for my cabinets, and if I can figure out how to get some decent photos, I'll post separately. I just love the crackle over the glass tiles I've been shown. If I could do it all again, I'd shop BS first, and then find a quartz countertop that lets the BS shine. In your last picture, the silver looks dark, and I know it isn't. It is truly lovely. What I have learned from you is that I will order several extra sheets. If some tiles look too dark/off color, I can have extras to replace....See MoreCrackle tile backsplash
Comments (38)Lckaisgir, bookworm has 2 mint tiles tiles that she offered to send to Martha. If she has them, I'm sure she'd send them to you. Also, I'm happy to send you a few tiles. It's so hard to really get a feel for the range of colors with one or two. Even when I had 20 of them sitting on my counter for a month, it was a totally different look when they were vertical & grouted. I absolutely love my backsplash. I think it's my favorite kitchen "selection". I don't think can go wrong with this tile. You just have to pick a color....See MoreEncore Tile Question
Comments (13)My daughter & grandson are visiting & I've been MIA on the kitchen forum. The Dove Grey looks perfect w/ your countertops & island color. Really nice color pooling on the edges. I'd go for it. Encore Silver is a mix of silvery grey tiles & taupey tiles (like your sample) with probably 5 or 6 distinctly different tiles in the mix. The majority are the silvery grey. When my tile arrived, the KD & I opened a couple of boxes and I freaked out, as they were predominantly the taupey ones. I was also expecting some light blue tiles, based on a sample board of Encore Silver at the local tile shop. The taupey tiles sat on my kitchen counter for about a month, while Encore made me about 20 tiles with a very slight hint of blue. In the end, if we had just opened up all the boxes, I would have realized I had plenty of silvery grey tiles. While there are rosy taupe tiles in the mix, the overall look is cool & silvery. The taupe adds a little warmth & interest, which I desperately needed, with all white cabinets & white countertops....See Moreromy718
