Obliviousness & lack of smarts: everybody & his idiot brother-in-law seems to have a yard maintenance business around here.

My manager said that they were taking bids soon, and probably wouldn't have that company anymore. I know there have been other complaints about them mowing down plants and weed whacking plants to death that were planted outside the courtyards. I explained to her that there was no way anyone could NOT have known that was a garden bed, and she said she'll call them and tell them to leave it alone from now on. She used to live next door to me, so she knows what my beds look like, and is fine with me using the leaves as mulch for now until the ground covers kick in .She agreed that it must be someone new, since they have left that bed and the leaves alone all winter. Probably a new summer hire. Anyway, I'm putting up signs and hoping they can read.

My poor little brug babies! All the leaves just shredded right off by the blower.

It takes a lot to kill those Angel Trumpets though. I've accidently hit some with the weed eater and they come back.

I was having a fence installed last summer and I dug up a large clump of them that sat on its side for weeks before I moved it to a spot and stood it upright. I've been throwing leaves on top of it and it's growing like crazy now.

But these are just babies, not even a foot tall. I'm hoping they make it. I babied them all through the winter.

dirty73 - Put up a fence around your property. Tell the HOA you don't want anyone on your property, that you will take care of it. Some HOAs don't allow fences. This is why when we looked for property in FL we rejected all gated communities with HOAs.

greenthumbs, I don't own my property, and I don't have an HOA. I live in an apartment complex and have permission from management to plant outside my apartment. The ground crew is just stupid, that's all. Or malicious. One or the other.

Would they allow you to place a border of some kind around it? Say something a foot or two high so they know it's a garden bed ... in addition to your signs ... hopefully they can read.

Thankfully, like Cody said, brugs are tough. I know they are babies, but they are still tough plants.

So sorry to hear about the idiots tearing them to bits ... I know how heartbreaking that can be. I hope they all come back okay.

Yes, hopefully. I'm going to start fertilizing them with time release this week. Hopefully, that will help them settle in.
