We need to get an idea of how we are going to finish our basement (which we are doing at the time of the build) so our plumber can rough it in. Can anyone help with a bathroom and bedroom layout for the area on the left side of the basement? I would like the bath to be accessible to from the living area. A three piece bath with tub/shower combo, toilet, and single vanity is preferable. I would like a walk in closet in the bedroom and need the window to be in the bedroom. It is a lot of space to work with and is overwhelming me! Any help would be appreciated! Nothing is set in stone. We just like the option of having two potential bedrooms and a bathroom down there (need a window for all bedrooms to be considered bedrooms). Some added notes: One window centered on 17 inch wall. Window is 108" wide by 60 inches tall. I just want to use the 17' x 30" for 1 bedroom and 1 bath. The playroom was going to be the other bedroom but I am not opposed to redesigning everything to make things work better. I attached the foundation plan if that helps more. We will be using the space in front of the stancion posts for unfinished storage space and mechanicals. The horizontal line across (along the stairs) is where the wall will be covering the stancion posts. The stairway will be open. The length of the basement area is 64' from the exterior wall of the house to the garage. Thank you!

Don’t lose heart :). I think you can have a fabulous maximalist blue and orange rec room. Don’t let the gray floor be the boss, just cover as much of it as you can. The orange rug seems like it will work just fine. Can you get a second matching orange rug in a smaller size for in front of the fireplace? Then maybe a sisal or a neutral tan rug for in front of the sliding door, as large as possible. One or two brass floor lamps. A gold framed ornate mirror, perhaps on the wall where dresser currently is. A big fig tree in a corner (faux if you don’t have a green thumb). Big bold colorful art canvases, one above fireplace, three on wall to right of fireplace. Check out greatbigcanvas.com. Bold drapes in orange velvet blackout, orange ikat, or a stripe with orange and blue. Cognac leather poufs or cognac leather accent chairs instead of the light blue chairs. Big white sheepskin quad rug. Perhaps bring in some golden yellow accents as well. Agree to use couch and chairs in the same seating group so they are not all in one row along the length of the room, probably on the side of the room where the 11 x 11 rug is currently, moving TV to that side. Try a round game table and 4 chairs on the other side in front of fireplace for now - no need to spend a lot of money, just buy an inexpensive set from Craigslist or Marketplace for now and see how you use the space over the next year. Then you can upgrade if you like that concept . . .

i am considering a wall of built in cabinets on the wall with the recessed part. Deeper cabinets where its recessed, thinner ones on either side so they all line up. the dimensions on the plan is what we will have after moving the wall back. The tv is currently on that wall and the couch faces it with the bathroom door behind us. UnUnfortunately its such a narrow room that i can only put a small love seat, 70 inches max to allow a walkway from the stairs tonthe bathroom door so it not only cuts the room in half but only two people can watch tv

Here's an option we came up with last night. I'd love your opinions. I've been a lurker for years on this forum and have loved seeing everyone's renovations. I would add built in cabinets along the current TV wall, leave 20 inch clearance for the doors to open, then put the corner sofa. This gives us 30 inches clearance to walk down the stairs, into the room and towards the bathroom door for laundry. Then we would build up the wall where the stairs are and hang the TV there on an arm that could be pulled out to watch TV, this way the tv is entered for all on the corner sofa. We also considered putting the tv on the back wall where the windows are but feel it's a bit too far from the couch - it would be a good 16 feet to the TV and only part of the viewers are facing the TV.
