Looks like a flower press!

It looks like a mold for the body of a mandolin or some other stringed instrument.

Flower press would be square.

Find a guitar-making board and ask them if it is one of the MANY jigs and presses used by luthiers.

It may be a "veneer press" for applying the veneer to the body of the guitar.

There are 5 "plates"? Do they come out or are they fixed?

Imhappy&Iknowit IOWA zone 6b - the wooden "plates" are removable.

Could have belonged to an early tennis champ! Look for initials, google them filtering "tennis players"
