Wow, that's a tall pear tree! That looks like the tree may be growing on its own roots (or the rootstock variety have been originally overtaken by the roots coming from the scion).

Where are you located? That might be one of the Southern pear varieties (the texture of the leaves look a little glossy). You cannot tell the variety just by looking at the tree, we will need to get a description of the fruit and see pictures.

Looks to be....a fruiting pear. At this point, it's anyone's guess as to what variety - and even when the fruit mature, you may or may not be able to identify variety with any certainty.

Pears are a no-spray, almost no-care tree that you can expect near-perfect fruit from, here. About the worst thing I ever encounter on mine are some stony spots here and there where a stinkbug may have fed earlier in the season.

With that height and the very glossy foliage, I'd suspect a callery pear, Pyrus calleryana. While these are intended to a be an ornamental (fruitless) pear, they most certainly are not as they cross pollinate freely with any other genotype (which accounts for this species invasive status across a major portion of the country).

If it is, the fruit will remain very small and are not really edible. And it is a tree that you should consider removing, both because of its widespread invasive potential as well as its reputation for being weak wooded and prone to a lot of damage from winds, snow and ice.

Nearly all pear trees have glossy foliage. Is that your property?

How long have you been there. Do the fruits get any bigger than that?

Its hard to tell exactly if it is a flowering pear or fruiting until the fruit matures.

It will get bigger if it is not Pyrus Calleryana.

Hello everyone, I am located near the lower coast of Virginia about an hour from the outer banks. the tree has been here since we moved in about 12 years ago. The fruit does get bigger and is normally the size of a normal green pear but with some brown specks on them.

Come back with a photo of mature fruits in late summer/early fall... some varieties are distinctive in their shape or appearance... others are just... pear-shaped.
