A small project...completed!
Comments (13)Thanks for all the wonderful comments. Yall make a girl feel great. I sealed them with clear acrylic spray. I originally thought a tea cup and saucer but didn't have any small enough. The leaf just fit. Funny but I've had all the parts since last summer sometime. Hee, Hee!!...See Morehelp with a very small science project
Comments (8)>> hundreds! Or until he's tired of digging for them :) As many as you can feed to the fish? >> Yes, big enough for water to drain but not so big escapees are a problem. (I use a recycling sized bin) Once the thing is set up water once in a while and make sure there's food in there- you won't have to go dig worms before you go fishing for a while :) >> I know it's not the "worm farm way" but regular worms eat & poop too :) You might not get as much castings/ as fast as the red wigglers sold for this purpose. A good experiment when he's a little older: buy some & dig some and put them to a race! >> fill the bucket at least half full with shredded paper & leaves as the base, wet it down good and let it drain. I go ahead and throw in the half coffee can of dirt the worms are in while I dig them each time (for fishing trout around here :)Maybe give them a weed or two like a dandilion - roots and all) It will be gone by spring. Also Feed them things like shredded lettuce/the outer rings of head not fit for your salad, outside peels of an onion, egg shells...smash em good :)- basicly anything without grease & bones...no meat. Once it's set up he might not have to add anything for a while, or he might add a little somehting each time he "checks". Keeps the interest up if they get to "do something!" If they don't need anything, all your offerings are perfect for the regular compost pile outside. (I have 3 earth machines from the community composting project many years ago. I feed them more often than the worm bin probably...named one Templeton after the rat in Charlotte's Web - the garbage collector :) "WHO wants to feed Templeton?" was called out when I wanted the youngest to take out the "garbage" to the composter. Worked for quite a while! Now that she's 20 - not so much :) Laurie...See Moreworking on our next small project, advise please.
Comments (10)Thanks loribee and coopersbaily.. well, I goofed, I thought the price of the bracket was 18.99 for two, it turns out that was for one. duh.. well, I learned something today that I didn't know... I ordered the original bracket on ebay 18.99 and the shipping was 9.99...total 28.98 So I called the company directly to order another bracket...I just got off the phone with the company rep and they quoted me, 18.99 plus 4.49 for the shipping for the second bracket...total 23.44 ...I asked them why I was charged 9.99 on my original order, and they said, it's because I ordered the first bracket on ebay... didn't know ebay doubles the shipping! Did you? I'll never make that mistake again. __________________...See MoreOk, here goes... My half-finished kitchen [very long & pic heavy]
Comments (27)Wow, thank you, everyone, for your kind and encouraging words. Having spent countless hours, taking notes from this site (even when I knew some things were impossible to achieve in this kitchen) and quietly admiring all of your beautiful kitchens, from the big, jaw-dropping ones to the smaller, but oh so lovingly personalized ones, it means a lot to me and my SO that so many of you like what we've done so far. As newbies to all of this, we questioned every single small decision we made, and then questioned it some more, never quite sure if we made the right choice--especially going with practically the same color floor and cabinets--so it's great to get some positive feedback. Except the soffit. We never questioned that decision. We knew those had to vamoose! You should see the ones we took out of the bathrooms! EEEeeeeek! Anyways, thank you so much!...See MoreShades_of_idaho
