How to hide streetlight in neighbor's back yard?
Comments (18)I agree, always try to talk first. You never know, it might work. Ok, it probably won't simply because a considerate neighbor would have thought things out before installing, taking his neighbors' rights into account first. Clearly, that didn't happen. So, like mentioned, check laws for your area (bi-laws?). Here's some things to ask when you call your town hall (city hall??): - first, is it even permitted to errect a light standard? - if so, maximum height? - allowable distance from neighboring property lines - ask about laws concerning the "Reasonable enjoyment" of your property. In other words, what are the remedies for when a person is interfering with YOUR enjoyment of your property. A bright light IS a problem. - if this guy installed it himself, you may want to ask the township if that's allowed, or if it MUST be done by a licenced electrician and be registered with the town OR inspected. - if it needs to be inspected and was not, then *cough* ask the town to have an inspector pay the neighbor a visit. If inspectors are anything like here, it could end up causing this idiot more trouble than it's worth. Hope you find a resolution to your peace and quiet. :)...See MoreWhich loveseat/chair go better w/leather recliner?
Comments (3)No, I'm not 100% that we're going to hang the cowhide, but putting a lot of thought into it. I'd love to do a sectional, but the room is so oddly shaped with doors and such (ie. TV), that it just won't fit. I've put tape on the floors and everything. I like how we now have it, I'm just not good with filling in the blanks and putting fabrics together. I am getting more confident and learning a lot from everyone here :-)...See MoreA reclining sofa that doesn't look like a reclining sofa??
Comments (20)We looked at the Lazy Boy recliners - the looks of some would work for us, but they weren't very comfortable for us. We got Ekornes Stressless sofas. They recline and are very comfortable. They don't have an integrated foot rest, there are separate ottomans to use with them. We got the theater seating grouping because we like having at least one arm rest per seat, but you can get them in a normal couch configuration. Ours are large (wider seat) but they also have a medium size if you need more compact. In depth (front to back) they are pretty compact because they use a metal frame which allows for a thin back. There is a high back if you prefer that. We got the low back because it makes the room feel molre open and it's high enough for us and we got a couple of their recliners for when we want a higher back. They are pretty expensive but I expect them to be a very long term purchase....See MoreRecliner back too high -contrast with sofa
Comments (22)I'm guessing you placed them that way so you and your DH can sit in comfort and watch TV together? I think they're fine. They don't dwarf the sofa. I have a huge recliner, actually marketed to large men, LOL, but I love it! It's big, but doesn't dominate the room. If you wanted to, you could put a small end table between them where you and DH could set your sodas, or snacks, or whatever, on while you watch TV. The lamp is also a good suggestion, but I also think it's fine to leave it as is. :-) Congrats on a couple of really beautiful chairs!!!...See MoreUser
