Hi jharveyph! Would you be able to post a couple of pictures so we can see what we're talking about? That would be super helpful. There's not much you can do if you've had something custom made; I think you're stuck there. But the people on this forum are super brilliant! I guarantee they will come up with several excellent suggestions.

Let me work out how to do that. Post them I mean. I have the pictures.

Looks fine and most recliner backs are pretty high anyway.

My only objection is that they are next to each other I would like to see them separated. What is on the other side of the couch? Would there be space to separate them ?

They are facing the TV, so no they couldn't be separated. The one moved would block TV access.

You think just one recliner sitting alone in that area would look better. I feel the space might be too big?? the chair would look just dumped there, not part of the room?

I went in and looked at our family room.....hadn't thought about the height of the sofa and the recliners. Our recliners are taller than our sofa (none of the furniture is new so evidently hasn't bothered me.) I think yours looks fine. My only suggestion might be to put a lamp between your two chairs, rather than to one side. Cord could go under the one chair.

nothing wrong, you want to vary the heights of the furniture in a room.

It would be easier to tell with a fuller, or more shots of the room, but my guess is it's because it's new to you so it seems strange. I feel a room looks better with a variety of heights to give the room interest. Give it some time and I'm sure you'll not even noticed the difference between the heights. It's a lovely room by what I can see of it.

If you have room for a sofa table behind sofa, your could add a pair of lamps & objet on it and I think that would balance out the height and heft of the recliners.

I like the idea of the lamp between them.

They look fine to me too, you could always add taller feet to the sofa.

The only thing that might bother me is that the one closest to the sofa would block the view from the table -- but that's only an issue if you use the rooms together. If they function separately, it shouldn't be a problem. And taller recliners tend to be more coomfortable for reclining since you can actually rest your head without slouching down.

Are the seat heights close to the same and just the back of the chairs are taller? If so, then the scale seems right to me.

I'm guessing you placed them that way so you and your DH can sit in comfort and watch TV together? I think they're fine. They don't dwarf the sofa. I have a huge recliner, actually marketed to large men, LOL, but I love it! It's big, but doesn't dominate the room. If you wanted to, you could put a small end table between them where you and DH could set your sodas, or snacks, or whatever, on while you watch TV. The lamp is also a good suggestion, but I also think it's fine to leave it as is. :-) Congrats on a couple of really beautiful chairs!!!

They look fine. Every recliner I have ever owned was taller in the back than the rest of the furniture. It would not be a very comfortable recliner if the back was as low as the sofa. I like them together, ours have a small table between with a little lamp and the remotes.

I would have been more concerned the chairs are too large for the room..but your room accommodates them well. I wonder why this is bothering you. Your set up/arrangement is perfect. Don't worry, be happy. Perhaps you are attempting to gather ammunition with which to purchase a new sofa? LOL
