Comments (1)My sympathies. I would do a sheet drape though I think they may be OK since I am fairly sure that my newly sprouted plants have survived below freezing temps as long as it isn't really low. If you will have wind, clothes pins may help hold the sheet in place....See MoreFreeze Warnings Issued for Tonight, April 7/8
Comments (2)You're welcome, Eileen. Nothing I left uncovered Friday night, including the volunteer squash plants, was damaged, which sort of made me chuckle, but we only hit freezing around 8:45 a.m. Saturday and didn't stay there long. I actually think we're going to end up being colder early Sunday morning than we were Saturday, which isn't what was forecast....but we get whatever weather we get. I didn't cover up any of my roses, and they were fine....really, everything here was fine, but we barely hit freezing so not much was at risk at that temperature anyway. I hope this little cold spell is the end of winter weather intruding on spring....See MoreProtect asparagus from freeze warning?
Comments (4)I'm late to the conversation but here's what I did last night. The strawberries have lots of flowers already, so they got my best frost blankets. My peonies were covered with ordinary bed sheets draped on whatever structure I could find (peony rings, pepper cages, rings made from hardware cloth). The idea is to create a tent and trap warmer air radiating from the soil, so any fabric works as long as it touches the ground all around the plants. Other tall plants got bed sheets draped on sticks (tepees). I have to repeat the whole thing again tonight......See Moresnowbanana
