Adenium (Desert Rose) when and how to fertilize?

Hello everyone! I'm new to this hobby so please excuse my novice question.

I was given a 1 year old desert rose as a house warming present and I have managed to keep it alive for over a year now!! All i was told was "stick your finger in the soil and water when the soil is completely dry..." Well it worked and I've kept it blooming :)

I didn't know the name of the plant until recently, and I now have a new-found respect for this lovely pant. I am terrible when it come to plants, I only water them....never repot and never fertilize.....until now.

So on to my question.....how do you actually fertilize this plant? Meaning, I know that you're not supposed to feed plants when they are dry/thirsty due to risk of burning and damaging the root, so whats the best practice? Should I dribble some water on the soil then wait to add fertilizer? I don't want to over water either and risk rot.....

And due to popular feedback, I purchased DynaGro Pro-tekt and DynaGro 7-9-5.

Thanks so much!
