Vicki I am so sorry for your loss of your fish. I posted a month or so ago about all of my beautiful Koi I had for 13 years that I lost to something in the dead of winter. I was so very sad, so I know how terrible you feel. I wanted to fill my pond in, but everyone was so kind and told me get some new fish. I did..they will never replace the fish I had, but I do enjoy watching the new ones. So morn your fish and when you are ready..really go and get a couple of new ones, they will bring back joy to you. So very very sorry you are going through this.

This past week I have had "off" from watching my grandson, so I have been busy busy in the garden. I bought some more of the smaller sized wall block-three trips to HD cause they are heavy-and finished 2 smaller terraced beds and planted 2 roses in the apple grove area, I made slightly bigger planter in the play area for Mr Lincoln, thank goodness I have my guys breaker hammer so I could split the block really easily. I dug up a small shrub/tree, potted it and hauled it up to hopefully survive and block some reflected heat. I finished our drip system for the lower garden, planted some seeds, one more rose and made sure all the new fruit trees have drippers. I dug up 2 more tree stumps-miserable ones that I have been putting off and gave up for now on a third. I demoed the old chicken coop and hauled it off along with my dads section of a cement storm drain he some how dragged home and thought was useful. Replaced a broken sprinkler head, edged, mowed, filled skunk holes, raked the lawn. And for kicks and giggles tackled the bougainvillea by the gate, cutting down to just a stump that is embedded in the fence and cut the "feeders" to the stump. Here is to hoping it dies! I have a hate-hate relationship ship with those plants. Beasts. And put the new rose, a gate greeter in the space to see what I think (have to build it a raised planter too.) Got a few other odds and ends finished and have just a couple more days of hard stuff and the garden will be close to that "done" state for now This post was edited by Kippy-the-Hippy on Thu, Apr 3, 14 at 23:56

Today after a 9 hour workday I came home and joined my hubby and son in starting to fence across the backyard. My job was to check out the area and remove any poison ivy and rake back the pine straw along the proposed fence line. The fence will run between two rows of white pine, and the plan is to within the next two weeks run wire fence along the back and a more formal fence across the back yard and side yard to allow a bigger play yard for our 4 shelties. What my hubby didn't count on was how HARD the soil would be under those pines: absolutely dry clay soil. He poo-ed my idea of driving in the metal posts, watering the base, waiting 15 min, and then driving them again but once I got him to try it IT WORKED. Anyway, while Alan and Russ put in the posts I raked the fence line and took the pine straw to mulch the little crescent garden that is at the firepit/conversation area in the back corner of the backyard. I also picked asparagus and moved a bunch of rocks to stack along the pathways of my herb quilt. Then I took some little branches and lit a fire in the firepit. It was just a quick little blaze but a nice way to spend twilight before going inside. The fence will run along between the pines to the grape arbor, and then come across the back yard to the house.

Thanks for replying everyone. I can't attach anything permanently to the pulley cable because the pulley track and hanger only have a little bit of extra clearance beyond the diameter of the cable. If there was more clearance, I could easily make permanent loops in the cable in a variety of ways that could roll with the cable. I have 3-4 feeders at a time evenly spaced across the 50-foot cable... I can't push/pull multiple permanently-mounted feeders all the way across and back because some would inevitably be unreachable (or unretreivable). The split hose idea is a good one though... that way I wouldn't need to try to clamp the feeders to specific locations on the cable, I could use the hose sections to maintain the spacing. I'll see if I can find small hooks that won't ride over the hose sections. Thanks for the brainstorming! Susan
