Comments (23)Alisande, just a heads up - Facebook has the same conditions that most websites do. Anything you post on their site gives them the right to use it. And they especially note that anything of yours that is shared by others gives them that same right even if you delete your account: "1 For content that is covered by intellectual property rights, like photos and videos (IP content), you specifically give us the following permission, subject to your privacy and application settings: you grant us a non-exclusive, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free, worldwide license to use any IP content that you post on or in connection with Facebook (IP License). This IP License ends when you delete your IP content or your account unless your content has been shared with others, and they have not deleted it." Not sure what subject to your privacy settings means, but the comment about sharing might give you pause. Here is a link that might be useful: Facebook Terms...See MoreFacebook question
Comments (17)"Snowfakes" privacy has to be set to public (globe) which really means no privacy! If a friend likes or comments on anything with the "globe" icon on it (which means it's "public") then it will appear in your newsfeed. If you do the same thing above, then all of your friends will see what you like or comment on in their newsfeed because it's "public" (has "globe" icon). Instead, if you or your friend like or comment on something with the "two heads" icon on it which means "friends" then it will NOT appear on your friend's feed (or your feed). You will see the "globe" or "friends" icon right after the date and time of the post. **To avoid clogging up my friends' newsfeeds with stuff, I just avoid liking or commenting on anything with the "globe" (public) icon. When friends clog up my feed, I unfollow them. We remain friends, but they never appear in my feed. I place them in the "acquaintance" category already set up in your account and go to that list if I want to see their newsfeeds. This is the only way I can easily see them since I unfollowed them. Hope this helps. Can be very confusing! Some people like or comment on too much "public" stuff so I just have to unfollow them and place them on the "acquaintance" list....See MoreFacebook Fundraiser Question
Comments (6)Thanks, both of you; I appreciate your time. We ARE going to circulate the appeal/link to our personal page on the charity's site, by email, but I was also hoping to reach people that I'm "friends" with on FB but not really in touch with/don't know their email addresses, etc. Such as former classmates, friends of friends, and so on. Please don't get me wrong; I don't expect a huge outpouring, but I do know that many would donate even $5. And this is a specific annual Spring fundraiser by this organization that now is going to be held virtually, which will greatly reduce the funds received. So, I have to do it now as there is a timeframe....See MoreA Facebook question
Comments (25)I honestly did not understand what this was even about and I'm on FB daily. I mainly browse from my desktop computer with Chrome, and only occasionally on my smartphone or iPod, and I have not noticed a lack of editing ability. I do not crowdsource business recommendations there, and don't share them either. I don't follow any businesses, unless it's to enter a giveaway, and then I delete them later. I have a limited number of 'friends' on FB - mainly family - and adjusted my settings to keep things more private. I agree nextdoor can be a better source, but around here it's a bit of a crapshoot, due to all the crackpots on there. And yeah, I think that's a bit of misinterpretation of site guidelines, woodrose......See Morewildchild2x2
