Stranger made my day, today!

Had breakfast for lunch at The Waffle House. Asked the waitress for my bill and she told me it had been taken care of.

They said they are not allowed to tell who does this.

Friend's husband and his buddy ate there every Saturday. Said it was not unusual for someone to pick up their tabs. They were both in their 90's.

How thoughtful! Put a smile on my face!

Debbie, are you SURE they are only 8 days? They look to be a few days older than mine and they are 8 days today. Maybe yours are growing faster because there are only 2 in there and their are 5 crammed in my box? I would get a spoon and remove the eggs since they are sitting up on the nest. Usually un hatched eggs get shoved way under the nest where you cant get to them but those look easy enough.

black oil sunflower seeds probably attract more birds than any other feed. you can use a tube feeder or a mesh wire feeder or even a hopper feeder. Suet is a great treat in winter but some birds eat it year around. you can use a suet cage and buy suet cakes or make your own suet mix. there are lots of old posts on here making suet. if you like doves and juncos and other ground feeders the seed mixes with cracked corn ot millet do good but they also attract blackbirds and starlings and cowbirds which lots of people don't want around. the summer song birds such as tanagers and orioles and grosbeaks like fruit or berrys or drink from necter feeders. or plants with berrys or blooms and blossoms. the woodpeckers i get here love nuts and suet and cracked corn and millet. robins and bluebirds like mealworms or grubs or earthworms the tits and chickadees and nuthatches like suet or hulled sunflowers or boss or nuts.

Great stories, Iva Mae. I liked the one about the underwear ... ... for those who've been around for a while, I think that possibly there should be a litle tag in some of my underwear that reads "4 - 6" ... ... as an indication of its age? By the way some of the elastic girdles that I'd made way back when are getting a bit the worse for wear. Not so much of a problem, though, when wearing long johns in winter ... ... as long as the elastics in them are fully operational. ole joyful

I also have fun doing this through the drive-thru at McDonalds. First of all, I rarely eat there unless I get a craving for a Big Mac (I know, the feeling lasts only halfway through eating it), but I like to see the look on the person's face in the car behind me when the cashier says the bill has been paid. It's like they are awe-struck, then you get this huge smile. I try to drive away quickly so they don't see me, but I do enjoy watching their reactions. Usually, it's just a drink or coffee, or sandwich, I'll ask the cashier what the car behind me ordered first so it's not a big family meal I'm paying for. lol

We've had the same thing happen at our Waffle House and have also done it for other people. It sure is a wonderful act of kindness and such a nice surprise.
