Just because an actor does a commercial doesn't mean they are hurting financially. William H. Macy has a current commercial. J. K. Simmons does commercials. Etc., etc.

She is a huge animal lover and spends lots of money on their behalf. Possibly the money made went to shelters or something. I doubt she is hurting.

Heigl doesn't appear to have signed up with Cat's Pride for the money however. I had no idea who she was, even after looking her up - but that's just me....

I remember other "stars" doing commercials that were "awkward", as though it was somewhat below their star status somehow - Jane Russell for Playtex bras, Joe DiMaggio and Mr. Coffee, and Loren Greene (from the TV show Bonanza) and Alpo Dog Food. While others seem to be a good "fit". We're getting a real kick out of seeing one of the actors from Hart of Dixie (Raven, this was one of your favourite shows) do a Milk Bone dental chews commercial. He played 'Meatball'. He's really good at it.

George Clooney does a U.S. commercial for Nespresso. It also stars Danny Devito, so no wonder it's silly!

Didn't know that about the charity foundation, good for her. The commercial just struck me as odd, since it reminded me that I hadn't seen her for what seems like years. Out of sight, out of mind. Plus I had just read an article on the meanest girls of Hollywood, and she was one or them. Along with Paltrow, Katy Perry, Christina, ArianaGrande, Taylor Swift, can't remember the others.

I think sometimes those Hollywood gossip article writers who dish about celebrities can go far afield just to make copy, and the juicier the better. Of course, who knows whether that stuff is fact or fiction. Her charity work makes her sound like a genuinely nice person, not a mean girl.

Jasdip I have seen the commercial and recognized meatball right away. She, Dr Hart, is in several commercials right now, one for ice cream and one for make up.

We really liked the recent TV show State of Affairs Kathrine Heigl was the star of, she had been engaged to the presidents son and was her top advisor. She is a terrific actress. I hated it was canceled. She is currently working on a movie.

She adopted 2 children, girls, one from South Korea and one from Louisiana.

I'm less sure it's about money. As you already know, I live in middle TN and there are many "stars" here. I work for a research medical facility. I know of someone who believes so much in one field of study they've offered their time to endorse it on air. They sought us out. It does happen. But I am fairly sure that's the only other reason--they believe strongly in a cause.

I don't understand what the issue is. Why shouldn't celebrities work and get paid? It's a lot better than the way people heap freebies on them hoping they'll use them and be seen doing so. It makes a lot of them expect to never pay for things, or wait for things, or behave in any way like a decent person. Top tier American actors have been doing commercials abroad since they've been making commercials, for excellent pay, plus world travel. They didn't used to do them at home because of how that might affect their contracts/billing/pay with those who do the hiring. That stigma is pretty much gone, as is the idea that TV is lesser than theatrical, as is the idea that indie projects with reduced pay hurt what a studio will pay, etc., etc. So why do we stigmatize them for pursuing their livelihoods?

He is a hottie, but those commercial really bug me. The newer ones aren't too bad, but the one with the bulls in it?? And the one where he says, "Ahv been driving a Lincoln long before they paid me to do" just grate on me. He looks quite different in the commercials than he did in True Detective, for sure.

I wish Alex Trebek would grow his mustache back. He just looks odd to me without it.
