What dishwasher detergent to use in new Miele
Comments (41)I was using Finish Quantum power ball and salts from SOMAT as i have hard water. I began using finishing rinse aid as well as a no name brand but I don't notice the difference. But one thing that has happened is that the lower basket on RHS has rusted and now a prong has broken off. The rust showed up before and Miele replaced basket in first five years (of ten year warranty) but said no more. When this happened again four years later, I called Miele and while I was told when I purchased the machine to use FINISH, Miele is saying it has been reformatted and is causing the problem. That or the rinse aid. OR combo. I will be buying Miele Ultra Tabs from now on and being in Canada in a rural setting, I will have to get them from the co directly. (Note I have an 18 inch d/w). I do hope there is a way to cut the tabs in two as I really don't need that much detergent given size of loads....See MoreBest Dishwasher Tablets/Detergent
Comments (28)Last night we had 4 extra people over for dinner, and the Miele Diamante was completely full to the max with dishes, bowls, pots/pans, glasses, cups, silverware and cutlery. We used the last half of the Miele Tab that was left over from the few demo tabs we had and ran the unit on the Pots & Pans program. Once again, everything came out clean and spotless. There are about 1-2 weeks worth of the Cascade Action Packs in the container, but I think once they are used up, I'll just get the box of Miele Tabs. Even though there are 60 tabs in the box, they are scored in the center so are easily broken in half, which really gives you 120 loads. I don't understand why they just don't make the Miele Tabs half the size to begin with, since it cleans just fine. That way you'd have 120 in the box (at the smaller size) and it would "look" to be better price, even though it is $30. The way it is now, you have 60 large tabs for $30, which seems expensive ($0.50 a tab). But when they are in half, you get 120 tabs at $0.25 each. You would of thought their marketing people would have realized this and made the boxes with 120 smaller tabs instead of 60 large tabs that can be broken in half....See Morepowdered detergent for dishwasher drawers?
Comments (1)Yes, powdered detergent is a MUST; you can't use liquid or tabs. This because the drawer dispenses the detergent by flowing water through the detergent holder and then releasing that soapy water into the tub. Enzymatic is also a must, so read the label. If you see bleach of any kind, it's not enzymatic. We use either Cascade Complete or Kirkland (Costco's store brand) in our drawers and they both do a great job. Because the drawers have a condensation drying system rather than a heat dry, you do have to use rinse aid....See MoreDishwasher detergents revisited (again ;)
Comments (34)@littlegreeny, what exactly came of those Reeva Dishwasher Pods? I remember seeing those a while ago, and then.. very similar soft tablets/pods at Sam's Club. They both look like Huish/Sun Formula's.. but I can't be too sure. KIK/Korex (another manufacturer altogether, used to make a lot of ALDI and Wal-Mart stuff. @larsi_gw's, Miele DW will hate it. But the Sun/Huish Store Brand Dishwasher Gel made for Aldi, Target, Safeway, Albertsons, and quite a few other stores, reminds me a lot of the Lime-Green Cascade Gel that a few of us love with STPP Added. It seems to have a little bit more chlorine content in the bottle, and you can certainly smell it. It also has a really nice, bleachy lemony scent. And from what I can recall, the Chlorine Bleach that is used is capable of breaking down Proteins & Starches, just like Cascade. For some of you, who liked the previous suggestion of Adding STPP + Cascade Gel, it could be another product worth trying. :-)...See Morelarsi_gw
