Help! I've got spring fever! I've been ordering . . .
Comments (34)Brenda, it is nice when even family members are enablers, eh? LOL!! I actually keep telling my husband "There's this garden in Western NY that someday we have to go visit!" I would love to see your beautiful garden some day. The different areas you have planted and the variety is amazing. I've been lusting for some more photos from you. Would love to see what you have on file for your veggie garden from last year if you have any time to post some. Goodness! I finally cracked open the catalog for my local nursery who I really like to support. She's a true plantswoman who I so enjoy chatting with, etc. I just sent an email over to her with my "list" (is was a long one) of plants to put aside for me for pickup when they open. It's a terrible habit I have of giving her a list each year for pickup. But my birthday is always right around when she opens, so it's a birthday present, right?!?! Comments (6)That's wonderful! Lots of people like gray and red - I am not among them, because I think reds like that one really shine in a warm scheme ... so I'd choose a soft, vanilla-creamy ivory that leans toward palest gold. Look at B. Moore's Greenmount Silk, Hepplewhite Ivory, Windham Cream, and Montgomery White. That background will also give you lots of options for rug colors, from simple sisal to tribal patterns; and for cushions, in bold solids, traditional or graphic prints and patterns, or textured neutrals. It also looks good with virtually every wood tone in floors and furniture; with brass, silver, and china finishes in lamps, accessories and frames; and also with touches of black....See MoreBest $25 kitchen purchase I've ever made: PICS
Comments (16)Maine Susan, this sink is designed to do a number of things particularly well: It allows you to do your prep IN the sink. Note the "indentations" that circle the outline of the sink -- that allows you to set a cutting board into the sink and use it as if it were a countertop. So you can rinse and chop messy meat over the sink. You can chop your vegetables and shove the tops and skins straight into the garbage disposal. The collander sits up above the sink, so you can rinse things well without the collander base covering up the drain. The extra-large size means you can let dirty dishes soak on one end, while you're cleaning vegetables at the other end. Or you can let dirty dishes sit underneath your cutting board. It occurs to me, too, that the dish drainer we're talking about right now would also be a great place to thaw frozen meat. It'd allow air on both sides. If you're interested in this type of sink, several "big players" are available, and you really should investigate them all: - The Galley offers multiple sizes, and it is the most expensive - Kohler's Stages 45 (and also 33) is the most affordable, and opinions vary concerning the ledge on the side. - Kallista's Multiere -- I might've spelled that wrong, but it's kind of a midpoint between the two above They're all budget-busters, but I think they're going to add a great deal of function to the kitchen. If you're going this direction, you really owe it to yourself to investigate them all and choose wisely according to your specific needs: after all, once you chop a 4' hole in your countertop, you're committed. You can't run down to Home Depot and pick up a replacement....See MoreI've Done it Again......
