LOL!!!! @ cello music! Dang, yer a quick'un, Major RCG! CONGRATS to Yo Mama and the Giants!!! What a GREAT upset at the last minute!! With 2:something left, I thought the Yorkies were done for. What a fun ending! My favorite commercial was a toss up between Tide's Silence the Stain and Toyota's Badger....ok, and Bridgestone's Screaming Richard Simmons. LOL But Hank the Clydesdale ("Rocky") made me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Cars.com's Ring of Fire, etc., commercials were way up there, along with FedEx's Pigeons, Doritos's Kicka$$ Mouse (YIKES! LOL), and (Planter's?) Unibrow Lady. Ok, Charles Barkley's big mouth got a chuckle, too. :D Z-Chick, if you're rarin' to go next Sat. after having surgery today, then showing up at Clancy's is the least we can do! :D Hope you're feeling better soon!!! I can't say I've paid particular attention to most of the commercials during the Olympics. Except maybe the Visa ones, I love Morgan Freeman's voice! But I did notice off hand at least one commercial last night that I had seen (and disliked) during the Super Bowl. It was one of the ones which portrayed the theme, "you're not enough of a man so take solace in our product". It depicted a bunch of guys mentioning things they do which presumably they are forced to do in their relationship. The one quote that sticks in my mind is "I'll listen to your opinion about my friends, I'll even listen to your friends' opinion about my friends." After several of these type of statements, the gist of it is that the reason these guys put up with this is so they can drive some Dodge sporty-sports car. There were no less than three different commercials for three different products during the super bowl which had this same theme. Ugh. I only remember one of the other two, pushing a miniature TV which the guy should carry with him when the female S.O. forces him to go shopping with her. I'm guessing that they will be showing most of the SB commercials at some point during the Olympics in addition to the ones specifically made for the games. Like cyn427 I love the Olympics and am interested in all the different events. I wish they would show more variety on prime time and let go of some of the figure skating. I took my kids (then ages 6 and 9) to Atlanta in 1996 for the Summer games. It was extremely memorable. So memorable in fact that the 9 yo who is now 22 went to Vancouver this weekend. He saw Biathalon and Luge. Very cool.

I agree with Jen. The jersey thing is no different than spending money on anything else one enjoys. The only jersey I would probably buy is a baseball jersey because it's the only sport one can actually afford to go to around here. Can't get tickets to a Giants game and even if I could, no way could I afford it. Rangers and Knicks are almost the same. Can get tickets but they are crazy expensive. We do try to go to a baseball game or two each season. Baseball is our favorite, DS plays serious competitive youth baseball, and it's relatively affordable. We even travel to Baltimore at least once to go to an Orioles game. I do buy DS jerseys, but I buy them at Marshalls or places like that and they are not crazy expensive. I love when I leave my office in midtown Manhattan on a night when the NY Rangers are at the Garden. It's amazing how many people I see walking towards the Garden wearing Ranger jerseys. Not sure why, but don't see Knick jerseys when they are playing. And basketball is way more popular than hockey. I went to a college that has football team (Rutgers Univ). I went to all the games when I was in college. And I still live within 20 minutes of my college. And I'm a huge sports fan. But, I just cannot get into college football and never could once I left college. I'm not sure why. Maybe because we have so many pro teams in this area. Or maybe because the players change so often (only there for 4 years max) I don't feel the connection. I did recently go to a Princeton Univ hockey game for the 1st time. My DS has been asking to go to a hockey game for years. Can't afford Ranger tickets. Well, I could afford the seats way up, but I've sat there for Ranger games and there's no way I would take a kid there. It's crazy! Anyway, it was AWESOME. Will definitely be doing that again very soon.

It seems like every year the person singing the Anthem has to out do the previous singer with extra notes and seeing how long they can hold a note, up and down fowards and backwards and sideways. It is totally disgusting. This goes for Nascar races too. I wish the people who are chosen to sing the National Anthem for any event would sing it the way it is supposed to be sung without adding anything else to it. I felt embarrasement for BEP's and Christina. Both were horrible!
