I agree with daisy...no need to go with the silver gray at all. You already have enough different finishes and textures on the house.... the deep color and the linen look wonderful with the stone. I'd keep the color palette simple, especially with all the complexity of the gables and roof lines going on.

That was also my thought, no third color, esp. if you have a stone facade. Plus, the Boothbay blue is gorgeous and it's beautiful with the Linen trim, IMO.

The three are enough, I think: Stone, blue, linen.

I agree on using just the blue. I think the two tone thing is very trendy now (new home building near me is also using a gray and blue siding, no stone). You have a roof color, trim color, stone color, and 2 siding choices? That would be a lot. What about the door? Would that be different from trim? That adds to the mix, too.

Where is the silvery gray? Okay, I thought that first picture was just of siding that hadn't been painted yet. Blue houses can be very tricky as there is a razor thin line between country and not country, iykwim. I would paint everything your darker blue color and at least try a brighter white on your trim, as that will make your house look more like the modern craftsman style you seem to be looking for.

I agree with all the above posters who say to have all the siding in the Boothbay blue. The trim looks fine, and almost white. If you have a piece of trim that you can photograph next to a true white, the difference may be more apparent, but I like it as is - a softer white with your stone color.

Hmm....you guys might be right. I think the accent area (that is silver now) is too large of an area (going from top of second floor to botton of first floor) and thus intrudes as a result and almost makes it look like silver is the main house color (which obviously it's not). If you looked at a front profile of the house, the stone would take up the most space with the silver being second and the blue third, even though it's the color of the rest of the house.

I've seen a house or two that was blue that had gray accents on the shakes but the shakes only were at the very top of the second story (they didn't come down all the way to the first floor). They were truly a small part of the front of the house...hence accent.

Factor this in with the fact I have a cherry stained wood door and wanted to go with wood garage doors and having five colors (blue, gray, white, stone which is really a tannish, and then a dark wood) probably is too much.

Garage doors are really better when they blend in rather than be prominent on the facade. The front door should be most prominent and welcoming to guests.

It looks like the garage doors will be surrounded with stone, so unless you add yet another paint color that's close to the stone color, the wood tone might be the best choice. They would look odd in the dark blue and not blend anyway because of the stone surround.

There is the trim around the garage doors....but yes, all of it above the trim will be stone on the 2 car side. The garage doors right now being installed are an almond color. That is probably the closest to the stone. Are you saying the garage doors would look odd with the wood look against the blue?
