Need help Decorating Modern Condo (Especially the Bedroom!)
Comments (22)I might get a table for the kitchen, the one in the picture is actually a desk with some electrical equipment in it. So I don't want to put it in the kitchen. I really like the orange or a pale blue as well! I saw an apartment with similar design to my condo and they had a light blue accent. It worked well, though I really like that orange... I'm definitely thinking the same thing about the rug. I'm going to keep an eye out for one, and for some redone sleeper sofas per april's suggestion. I haven't seen them before, but if I can find one that would be perfect. As for the position of the TV, I'm not sure which I like more. Part of the reason that I have it on the wall I do is that you can view it while making food in the kitchen as well. I've gone back and forward myself with it. I could really use some suggestions for the bedroom everyone, it's so white and bland currently :/....See MoreSuggestions for making iron bed fit in a modern decor - Update!
Comments (13)I love everything about this room now. The simple way you've dressed the bed shows off your iron bed beautifully. The red carpet with the subtle pattern adds the warmth that a guest bedroom should have without compromising your simple eclectic style. The dresser and art are great. I'm glad you had the courage to remove the armoire. It all comes together now....See MoreDecorating modern farmhouse when stuck with wood colored trim
Comments (22)Just redefine your terms and adjust your "farmhouse" design inspirations to include wood tones. If you are only watching Joanna Gaines that's all youre going to see- and want. However, there are plenty of other takes on "contemporary farmhouse" out there. I honestly am not getting why browns/beiges/greiges are ok for painted surfaces, but not the same color in a wood stain. Yellow-golds, grays and whites are classic .... would fit quite nicely with your ca. 1980s gold toned wood. Re above statements that white trim will never go out of style.... well ya, some truth to that but the drab colorless interiors, the monotone white on white will. Mark my words, people in the not too distant future will be cursing the latex paint that soaked into the pores of their brick and caused it to spall, wondering "what were they thinking." Lets not forget that there was a time when people thought that a popcorn ceiling and metallic blobs of paint sponged onto every conceivable surface was a good idea!...See MoreArt/Decor Suggestions Please
Comments (69)P Banos: Thank you for your thoughts; I agree, I initially wanted a much larger piece there!! I just couldn't figure out how to make it work with the lamps. They would end up blocking the art. I can't move them much further apart because the right one would end up right at the corner of that wall, which would look off. Is it okay to have them block the art in this scenario? I'll photoshop three examples (same random painting I happened to screenshot) ... you tell me where I'm wrong in size/placement (keeping in mind the lamps can't be moved apart much further); do any of these work? Largest size, not centered over sofa but centered on the wall... Still large, but a bit smaller to allow for centering over sofa (still blocked by lamps)... Narrower width, portrait orientation (width would have to be just a bit wider than the current painting to somewhat fit between lamps)... Thoughts?...See Morenamarie
