What do you do in the mean time when you're decorating stuck?
Comments (6)Seriously, Honestly? I go to the Gallery and spend hours and hours going over all the latest pictures that Oceanna posted. Today, a little over 3 hours at the Gallery (Gee, thanks Oceanna! *wink*). Got nothing, zippo, nada done. Way too many ideas doing Funny Car crashes in my grey matter for me to make a firm decision on my projects so might as well go look-see everyone elses projects. Actually, truth be told there is no name for my 'style'. Believe me, I've searched. No way to describe it online so that I can get a decent search going. Because there is no name for my style, I come to a point where I get stuck ----- (the fact that my ideas have to be done on a miniscule budget makes it all that more difficult.) Kitchen not finished --- going on 15 months. Backyard/Garden Decor not done --- going on 7 months. Family Room not done --- going on 20 months. Sunroom not done --- going on 28 months. Master Bedroom not done -- going on 9 months. (Won't count the Master bath because in all fairness, we just started it. But I'm sure I'll come to a grinding halt there, too.) Why? Because I'm stuck, can't make a decision and stick to it because I can't find ideas for what I see in my mind's eye. I know there's got to be inspiration out there for what I'm trying to create but so far, haven't found it. I get ideas, tips and opinions from all the talented folks here and put them into play and all starts looking good but to head to the finish line? Nope. Isn't happening. So, I go to all the neato new photos on the Gallery side, thanks to Oceanna, kill a ton of time and not get a thing accomplished. Then I feel guilty for not accomplishing anything and I start the whole process over again. Amity, who is heading over to the gallery, again. lol...See Moreupdate on my boss and aortic aneurism
Comments (7)I love that they had a celebration of his life. That is how it should be, and I hope that is how my life ends as well. I know this must be tough for you especially with the reminder of your dad's passing, but take it as a blessing if you can. Hugs, Trin...See MoreYour build, and who is the boss?
Comments (33)Aah! It posted before I was finished typing and I can't edit since I'm on the mobile app. Anyways, I could tell which car my husband wanted most so I spent the week going from dealership to dealership looking at their inventory and seeing what deals they'd offer me. This was before all the dealerships it their inventory online. My father went with me a few times so I'd have company and it was annoying how often the salesman (it was always a man) would ignore me and speak to my dad despite my father telling them he wasn't the one making the decisions. On the plus side, it helped me narrow down which dealership to buy from because I wasn't going to buy from someone who wouldn't treat me with respect....See MoreNeed help finding decorative pillows! Comments (18)You have made a great start with your room! I agree with nosoccermom. Down inserts will work on your leather and velvet covers will be great. Although I don't use my velvet, heavier throws, etc. this time of year. Great for cooler weather and will really cozy up. I have a pillow made from a kilim pillow on a leather loveseat in our office, along with another pillow in a grainsack type fabric. I only use down or down alternative inserts and the pillows are fine on our loveseat. Granted it's in our office and is not used like a den/living room will be. A throw is another great idea for some color. I would pull colors from the rug for both pillows and throw. You also want to add some texture and even print to the room (print on a couple of the pillows). I would add plants and you could use basket type containers for added texture. Lower the art above the sofa and add another one. I'm wondering if you could pull those two down and add 2 more above - not sure if that would be too much - you could do mock-ups with paper and what arrangements works best. A tray on your coffee table with a colorful candle, etc. would be nice too. You've got the basics - just need to add a few finishing touches. I'm not big on homegoods, etc. for decor, but that's me. If you have some antique stores, thrift stores, etc. browse for some interesting decor items, artwork, etc. Homegoods, and those types will be good for the pillows and throw. Keep up the good work - you're almost there!...See Morewritersblock (9b/10a)
