Wow! I just washed a $5 bill the other day--you are in the big-time money laundering business.

I believe the St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco still washes the coins. :)

I seem to be the only one that leaves cash in my pockets, so if I launder my own money is it legal laundering? My children send things such as USB drives, name tags and pens through the process. I caught the USB before it went through the dryer; my son reported back that it still worked.

Never have I ever gotten that much out of the money laundering business. ☺

My husband and I have a little "game" when we are somewhere where there is an employee who has an unusual job. Years ago there used to be restaurants in California (I don't know about other states) called The Big Yellow House. Every location had a young girl who would walk around with big baskets of freshly made cornbread and long-handled tongs, and she would hand out cornbread to those who wanted it. That's where our "game" first started. One of us said something like, "can you imagine filling out an application of some sort and getting to the place where you fill in your occupation? -- 'I'm the cornbread girl.'" When I had first heard about the St. Francis Hotel washing all of the coins each night, the first thought that popped into my head was, "I'm the money launderer at the St. Francis."

I read an article not long ago about creative job titles that hipsters have in good sized businesses, like Chief of Narrative (nothing to do with publishing/film/media), or Happiness Officer. Cornbread Girl and Money Launderer are much more descriptive!

gyr_falcon USB drives -- I dropped one once in a glass of water and quickly retrieved it. It worked the next time used, but after that, seriously gave up the ghost.

Gah. I hate to admit to the things I've inadvertently washed. DH is usually really good about emptying his pockets but he catches me by surprise occasionally. My Maytag now doesn't have an agitator. What it has is a circular crevice just the right depth for hiding coins, a dime almost not retrievable. The last time I was fishing for dimes, it took a sideways piece of duct tape eased into place with a toothpick tip to grip the coin and get it out of the tub.

My younger brother was really adept at slipping his retainer out and into a pocket depending on where he was and if he didn't want someone to notice it....you guessed it, he was visiting once when a teenager and I washed it.

But a $20 artemis? That's a larger denomination than will usually make its way into my laundry, this is a small change household ;)

Just glad that the paper of the realm remains hardy enough to stand up to detergent and washing rotations...

It's just cotton and linen, so ... thinking of printing some on my old linen slacks. Wait. Maybe not...

I have laundered some money in my time and if I do, it is mine! Have not gotten any for a long time though. Usually it is stuff like connectors for coax or screws and things.

LOL....very good! I've laundered money, a camera, combs, chapstick, often Kleenex (grrrrr!), dog pickup bags and other stuff too.

I forgot my husband. Those would be the drill bits and screws.

My wife washed my money too, while it was still in my wallet. I learned quickly to empty my own pockets.

My kids learned to empty their own pockets as well because any money that I found in the laundry became mine.

Silly Putty and a timex. Don't remember if it kept on ticking.

Then there's "cheap" money. I've gone out dancing in other countries which, at least at the time, had money that wasn't waterproof. Or at least sweat proof. And considering where one stashes one's mad money.... Though...come to think of it, the color didn't really come out of my bras in the wash, so maybe it really did need to be salt activated to run....

My husband is very careless with money. (Obviously.....look who he married). He will sort of empty his pockets, but he always leaves change behind and sometimes paper money. If I had saved every bit of money that I found in the laundry, I could buy a new car. He was selling a truck, so I was cleaning it up and took the floor mats out and found a hundred dollar bill under the mat. He had stuck some cash under there and when he went to get it out, left one of the hundreds. I not only find money in the washing machine, I also find it laying around the house. Found a fifty dollar bill under the bed. No telling how much money he loses and we don't find. He never knows how much money he has. I just pick it up and put it in a jar or a baggie. At the end of the month, I stash it away.

It was a game between my late hubby and myself. I didn't work during that marriage and he gave me a household allowance. It more than paid for the expenses leaving me a comfortable amount of spending money. Yet he would always leave twenties and fifties in his jeans for me to find. I called it my "Mad Money"

Funny! I washed a tissue the other day and I'm still trying to get the lint off my black yoga pants. I never find money in the wash, but I do find it under the chair and sofa cushions occasionally.

Oh well, I'm another one that laundered a whole wallet! Driver's license, money and all! Now that I have a new washer and I read the pump could be ruined with coins in the laundry, I was much more careful to check pockets! Now it doesn't matter, as my husband passed away and I don't keep anything in my pockets.

I rarely find money but I've washed bullets before. DH forgot to empty all of his pockets after a hunting trip and I found them when a couple slipped partway into the holes in the dryer drum and were scraping as the drum went around and around. Scared the you-know-what out of me! He never did that again.

I have washed over $100 at one time, besides the usual coins and 20's or smaller. That big one I gave back. DH had been to the bank and put it in his shirt pocket, and forgot it. I check my pockets, but still sometimes miss things. Often was pocket knives. I've also done a bullet or 2, and a usb drive.

I do most of my business on a cash basis ... but can't remember having laundered money.

But ... then ... I'm getting somewhat old and forgetful.

I had a friend who ironed her bills. She couldn't stand them bent or wrinkled.

We had very bad weather here (NY) and my mail got soaked, as did my bills. I don't know how it happened, but snow got in my mailbox and then melted. I live on Long Island and we have individual mailboxes in front of our houses. Well, my bills were "trashed". I opened them up as best as I could and laid all the papers down on the table to dry. They were such a mess, they could have been laundered (by the looks of it, anyway)! Let me tell you, I DIDN'T iron them! Whether they were bent, wrinkled, or whatever, that's how they went out again!

I've ironed money.
