slip resistant mat for bath tub
Comments (2)Take a look at any WalMart, Target, Depot or Lowes for a perforated bath mat. With a refinished tub, you should lift any mat regularly and hang over the skirt or on a towel bar so the water/soap scum won't fester underneath which will cause staining. Comments (9)Nothing is going to be super attractive, but I have used these translucent treads from Amazon with great success. You just have to follow the alcohol prep process. I've yet to had one peel and have used them in 3 locations, for just the reason you mention -- senior cit mom. ;-) They come in a couple of different sizes, I think, but always get this size. Comments (52)Okay, I've never liked anything that *looks like* bathroom or kitchen rugs. That doesn't mean I don't like a rug in the bathroom though - I just want something pretty and decorative. I also don't like the fact that many bathroom rugs, people step out of the shower/tub wet on the rugs and then they sit there damp. I use a long oriental type rug in front of the double vanity. Nothing un front of the tub or shower. What we do is use the bath mats (like a thick towel) and lay those over the side of the tub when finished. They dry out quickly and are laundered often. That said, I'm certainly not saying what is in or out of style or what someone should do, just the personal preference around our house LOL. tina...See MoreNeed recommendations for mats without latex or rubber backing.
Comments (2)Anti-fatigue mats are almost exclusively created using rubber or latex. And some are created from a 'gel' that is a bit suspect. It is the plasticizer in the rubber/latex products that will do the most amount of damage. There are heavy area rugs (either well built or so large that they are heavy) that have natural backings or woven backings (nothing to indicate an anti-slip product) will be just fine. There are excellent rug pads that will do very well underneath area rugs. These look like a felted or matted appearance (often a weird gray colour). These are the types of rug pads you want to look at. If in doubt, do not purchase. There are many companies that produce rugs that are 'safe for use with hardwood'. These are often safe for use with vinyl. How is that you ask? Because most vinyl floors are finished with a coating of urethane or polyurethane...just like hardwood. Here's a hint...Ikea sells rugs/pads with this designation but places like Target do not. You want to focus on 'mid-range' shops or higher. Entry level products are most likely a no-no. You really do want to see a tag that states "Safe for Use with Hardwood Floors". That's where I would start....See Morejlc712
