Which wall oven for a vegetarian baker
Comments (1)We are also a vegetarian family, and I also bake a lot. In February, we installed the Miele Chef series 27" wall oven and the speed oven. I have been very happy so far. I have not had any problems with the size of the 27" oven - no turkeys to get in there! I am able to do no knead bread in a 7q Le Crueset with no problems. I also am able to fit in and bake two pizzas at a time each on a rectangular pizza stone. We have had great success with cookies, cakes, pies and quick breads. Bread comes out with that dark color you see in bakeries that my last oven was not able to achieve. I just made two loaves of whole wheat sandwich bread, and the color is really nice with a good oven spring. There is a learning curve with the Miele ovens. Convection, for example, doesn't work well for breads; I prefer surround for those. The chef series oven doesn't have anything called a "proof mode." The lowest setting on the oven is 125. The speed oven, though, does go down to 85. I have used that to proof breads....See MoreDo you love your toaster oven?
Comments (38)We have the Krups as well. I LOVE IT. It has to be front and center somewhere in the new kitchen. I never heat anything in the microwave that has a bread like substance in it. The Krups is good for just a "few" cookies, or heating up a slice of brownie, I use it every day. My son just moved out, and he begs me every time he comes home to give it to him and buy me another. Haha, I'll get him one for Christmas, but he's not getting mine! I saw one at Tuesday Morning online that is a discontinued model, (I don't think it's a Krups), but it has brick stone all around it, they say it retails for over $400, and they have it for $139. I'm thinking of getting him that one for Christmas....See MoreDo you love your microwave/convection oven?
Comments (15)We're on our 3rd Panasonic microwave/convection oven over the past 30 years. It is a good size and I use the microwave part more, but really find the convection part handy when I do need a second oven. Also the combo function works well for quickly heating something without the typical microwave sogginess that sometimes goes with it for pizza or a wrap etc. Ours have lasted quite long although we only got about 13 years from the last one (first one was 19 years). So now we have a new one which is almost the very same as the last only in stainless steel and slightly different controls. They come in white and black also I believe....See MoreDo you love your double wall ovens? what brand?
Comments (15)I would avoid any type of oven with blue enamel. I have personally had experience with three brands that have chipped, Dacor, Electrolux and Wolf. KitchenAid and other brands have also reported here. The only one that doesn’t seem to have problems is Gaggenau and they sort of tout their formula on their website. I love my Electrolux oven so it pains me to have it happen. It was chipping when it was delivered and they replaced it but it chipped again after a self clean at 4.5 years. The liner was replaced under an extended service plan and has been ok but I don’t run a self clean. They are also known to have issues with the control boards. Wolf has pribably the most extensive posting here of issues. Going back 10 years. Some here have gone through three ovens. This is a website with the lawsuits that are pending. http://www.wolfblueovenchipping.com/case-information/ Dacor wall oven and dual fuel range chipped but that was the least of its problems and they bought them back. My Electrolux is flashing an error code intermittently so I need to get another one lined up. I am looking at Bosch. I bake a lot so use the EZ glide rack on the bottom but use the regular rack above that because I change it around a lot....See More- 10 years ago
