killing the grass for replanting
Comments (7)I found this on the turffalo.com website. Hopefully it will help, but you'll have to wait until the bermuda starts growing, which it probably is by now. If your area to plant has any existing grass or weeds, these must be eradicated prior to planting. Many grasses may be removed with a single dose of glyphosate (Roundup) or 20% vinegar. For the quick and complete removal of Bermuda or other hard-to-kill grasses, weÂve only found one consistently reliable method: Let the Bermuda grow up to a height of 3" and treat with glyphosate, then wait 4 days and mow the grass very short and immediately treat again with glyphosate. This will kill Bermuda all the way down through the roots and rhizomes so it does not come back later. Wait about a week before tilling the area and installing plugs. After establishment, any invading Bermuda may be killed with Fusilade, which will only brown the Tech Turf without killing it. Hope this help....See MoreHow to replace 90 bend with a T in galvanized steel?

Comments (6)Removing what's under the whole lawn is a can of worms I definitely wouldn't open, as there's no real need. You can improve the grass much without doing that. It would be the worst job for little return. "I wanted to convert maybe the third of the lawn closest to the sidewalk into an area for planting ..." If you're going to pen in the walk with plantings I think you're already going in the wrong direction. IMO, a better place to expand the bed is toward the right, possibly even connecting it with what is probably the neighbor's hedge....See MoreRemoving Paint from Interior Brick Wall
Comments (3)Some of the condo units are removing with dry sandblasting but it supposedly takes all the paint off. You will get best information by talking to a sand blasting crew that is working in the building. I don't see any reason why ALL of the paint has to be blasted off. The guy on the gun will have some control of the process. As Lori mentioned, be mindful about the almost certainty of lead paint. Be prepared for extra cost to get it blasted. As well as to seal the wall after....See Moregrainlady_ks
