Favorite roses - by color
Comments (18)White: Alba: Alba Semi-Plena. I love its entire beauty, from the blue-green leaves, big white petals and that golden boss of stamens. Old Garden Tea: Le Pactole Noisette: "Lamarque" I was looking at the vast and vigerous plant of Lamarque at the Berkeley Botanical garden, where it grows on a large wooden structure, so beautifully and so cleanly. Species: Rosa arvensis sometimes called 'Shakespeares' Musk'. I love its vine like growth habit, blooms and dainty rosehips. Pink: Tea: Mme. Antoine Mari, "Mme. Berkeley" Mlle. Cecille Brunner. Peach to Flame hues: Polyantha-Tea "Perle d'Or" Tea:Anna Olivier Pernetiana cl. "Duquesa de Penaranda" This is the most disease resistant Pernetiana in the Morcom Park collection, and when I first saw it in bud, I was reminded of "Anna Olivier", in addition to this, to my nose they both have a similar fruity fragrance, but D. de P. has richer flame hues. I could not believe how healthy this rose is, and helpmefind also tells that D. de P. is disease resitant. I always think I should like "Buff Beauty" more than I do, but it is this Pernetiana that rings my chimes, for all the nuances it shows in its flame pink and orange blends of hues. "Soleil d'Or" is another rose I tend to stare at in admiration when I come across it. "Mari Dot" Yellow all the yellow Tea roses in the world. "Etoille de Lyon", I think may be my favorite. species hybrid: Mermaid. Red: I never cared much for red roses until I met "Gloire des Rosomanes" It appears more ancient in its bearing than it is, though from 1825. Those white streaks delight me, and this rose seems like an old freind to me, that might sound odd, but its true. Luxrosa...See Moremulti-color rose bush
Comments (1)mheitman, there are several roses which have that characteristic. If you can get a picture of one or more blooms, we may be able to tell what it is. IF it is a single (just five petals) it is very likely 'Mutabilis,' an old China Rose. But there are others, and they have more petals. Jeri...See MoreMulti-color grafted roses
Comments (6)I have a couple more multi-color grafted roses, but they're not as dramatic and don't bloom as much as the iceberg one. This one is a grafted rose tree of Living Easy/ Easy Going that has pure yellow and orange roses: The contrast is not that dramatic because the yellows and oranges are in a similar color range. The red roses on this one are Olympiad and it also has white roses edged in pink that I don't recall the name of: Not too many roses right now, but it was covered in roses earlier in the season. Early this year, I had also purchased a couple of grafted tree roses of Julia's Child (yellow) and Ebe Tide (purple). I was really lookinf forward to seeing these in bloom, but when they did, they turned out to only have yellow roses, so I took them back....See MoreShow us your bi-colored & multi-colored roses
Comments (56)seil - what a sweet bloom on Tattooed Lady. Being a tattooed lady myself, I might need to find a spot for that one! msjam2 - your photos are beautiful. I second Sara Ann about Distant Drums. I have one coming this spring as well. I also really like your raised stone border... was that DIY? I'd love to do something like that for my own beds!
