I planted out a few things today.
Comments (23)I planted out almost everything yesterday. My back is so sore. I was able to Wintersow an entire new bed along the back of the house. I had plenty of seedlings to get the new bed started. I am so happy. I still have some small coneflower sprouts and many butterfly bush sprouts (10 containers of BB Bush) those need to get much bigger before I plant them out. My back hurts but I was sick of looking at the pot ghetto and was afraid my HOA would fine me eventually :) Karen...See MoreI have a few things that I am looking to get rid of.
Comments (21)It's looking almost definite that I will be going down next Saturday the 11th. I am hoping to be at excalibur by around 10:00 if I am able to get myself out of bed early enough. I'd like to meet up with most people there but could work out other options. Just send me an email. So far I have sleep down for the chempedak Swrancher down for the Lisa atemoya squam down for the Phillipine mango Also adding good sized (4ft or so) Grumichama cherry that is in need of some TLC to the available list....See MoreA few things I just finished making, and one oldie (4 pics)
Comments (18)Thanks, everyone! I love sharing this stuff with you. Have you designed a project for a larger hooked rug yet? With your new frame how large of a rug can you create? One of my first hooked projects 20+ years ago was a small rug I designed. Then later I bought a pattern that appealed to me and hooked that. I think both still need to be bound and finished (procrastinating about this step is a problem common to many rug hookers). Currently, the two projects I have lined up are a chair seat (I have five but need one more) and a new cover for my footstool. My new frame (which should arrive in less than two weeks) is the same size as my old one, but both can accommodate any size project, as you just lift the rug up and move it to work on different sections. Here's a story for you: Last night I was trying to come up with a design idea for the hooked chair seat. I looked through one of my books on rug hooking, and got nowhere with that. Then I reached for a book on folk art, thinking as I did so that it had been years since I'd opened it. Inside the front cover I found cut-out patterns my daughter Jill and I had drawn for a quilted table runner I made years ago. I didn't use the horse she drew at the time, but there it was, a perfect size for the chair seat. I feel that I was guided to open that book. Here's a picture of the pattern I drew on the linen burlap last night. I'll do some sort of design in the outer border. Now all I have to do is pick which wools I'm going to use. It's like coloring. :-)...See MoreI found a few on a chilly Friday
Comments (13)Debra, we plan on introducing three next year. Krakatoa Katie and Stumpy are two. The third one that will be introduced is Ashwood Summer Sunshine X Cactus Blossom. We have a name selected, but it is not reserved yet, so I won't mention it now. This daylily is a late bloomer with scapes over 36 inches tall, 3-4 way branching with bud count in excess of 20. It is highly pod and pollen fertile. I just wish the color was a bit brighter. We have not observed any rebloom on this one, but I think that might be understandable as late as it blooms. Maybe further south it would rebloom. This whole business of registering and introducing daylilies is a bit scary. We don't want to introduce ones that are not worth anything. But Bob says every hybridizer had to jump in and start somewhere. We hope to have a couple to introduce every year after this. Nancy...See More- 8 years ago
